weber IDA reversing plates
I realize that I may be the only person in recent years to have this problem, but my intake mounted my 48 IDAs back to back; that is, all fuel lines on the outside. I could not get them to synch above idle( and neither could anyone else). Fine at idle, but as soon as the throttle was opened the driver's bank pulled more air than the passenger side. After working on this for a year and a half, and buying two linkage sets from Inglese, Mick Lauria casually mentioned that they made adapter plates that would allow me to mount the carbs any way I want. I now finally have what I'd always been trying to achieve-almost perfectly seamless acceleration from 1000-6500 RPM. The people I spoke to at Inglese couldn't give me an explanation as to why they never told me they made these things before, knowing very well what my problem was. Set of 8 plates 180.00

This is how I have seen the majority of the Webers installed (fuel rails on the outside). Do I understand you to say you reversed one bank so that one pair has the fuel line outside and one is inside?

Yeah-
On a GT350 or mustang mounting the carbs with the passenger fuel ine inside and the driver side fuel line outside is by far the best way to go. A small block cobra is different; it is easy to mount a bellcrank near the firewall and a shaft that runs straight down the middle between the carbs with levers going to the left and right which open the carbs up by twisting the shaft.

Tim:
This is Jerry Shelby. I am going to install the Webers on a 351w, and the fuel lines will all face out. I have not got the linkage as yet, but see a problem like you had. with your set up. Where did you get the reversing plates that you mention to turn the carbs around? Traindriver's set up looks very good, but I want to look at the reversing plates also.
If you like, you can email me at Lubrecon@aol.com. or call me at 281-890-6400.
Thanks for your help.

Classic Inglese. Get the sale, forget the customer after the deal is done. You aren't the only one who has experienced a lack of customer service from these people. Search CC and you will find many post replete with problems with this company

reversing plates
The weber reversing plates are available at Inglese-I don't know of any other place that sells them. I made a mistake earlier; they come in sets of four for 180.00 They don't look bad. I haven't had anyone even notice they were there so far. I will try to send you pix tonight. If they don't go through just let me know.

I'd like to see them
Tim,
Can you post a pic or sketch of the reverser plates? You can do a lot of machining for $180. I'd like to see what Inglese is charging for. I worked out a quick design that I bet could be made for $10 each. I'd like to see how it compares to what Ingelese is selling.
thanks,
Chuck

Tim:
Its 9:00 pm Houston time and I have not received the pics of the reversing plates. If you could send again I would appreciate it.
Chuck:
If it turns out that the reversing plates can be made, I would buy them from you if you can make them. Also, do you have anymore detailed pics of you 351 linkage setup. Could you send them to me like you did before at Lubrecon@aol.com.
I am jetting 60 idles, 200 air correctors, 160 mains, 120 idle holders, F7 emulsion, stock 50 pump jet, closed pump exhaust, and 37 mm chokes. I think I got this from you Chuck. Does this look about right. The engine is a 351W stroked to 408, from Coast High Performance. I am going to use a Carter 4070 fuel pump. Some say no pressure regulator with this pump, others say a must. What do you two think?
Cal any comments about this set up?
Thanks to all of you.

If you experience a stumble, you may want to go to the 55 pump exhaust. Other than that, the setup looks pretty good.
I have always tried to stay from the "outside" set up; the linkage, geometrically, is much more complicated than the "inside" line set up. I am not sure why that system was developed.

Reverser Model
Guys,
Am I missing something or is this all the reverser needs to be. I was thinking .25 thk stainless. FHCS into the holes of the manifold. The other 2 holes are 5/16 tapped. Hand cut a gasket for the top side and use a regular thick one for the bottom side and your done. You would need 4 additional 'dumy' one so the carb are at the right height. If this works, my friend can laser cut these in about 10 minutes, tap 2 holes adn C'SINK 2 others and you're done. What am I missing for $180?

Lubrecon- I agree with Ford of France. Your jets/ hardware sound right. If you need photos of the intake with the center throttle shaft and none of the other guys can post (I really doubt that) I can send you some.
The side pull set-up was originally made for GT350s; in fact, back in '65 when they sold weber intakes over the counter they offered either the "cobra" or "GT350" style.
Traindriver, you got it right. The only thing different about what Iglese sells from your design is the Inglese plates are longer with two holes so you only need four plates, made of aluminum about 3.0mm thick and the one on the passenger side front has a shorter lip extending out to keep from hitting the throttle shaft where it sticks out the front of the carb body. Great job! I tried to get something like this made locally and labor was outrageous.
Any of you going to the Shelby spring fling in Indiana May 20-22? If you do make sure you find me.
Tim
