Help! - Cam depth in block - 351W
My retro-roller comp camshaft has .180 of end play, measured from the front surface of the block, this can't be right. For one thing, there is only .050 clearance on each side of the hydraulic rollers to clear the edge of each lobe, and I'm sure the bearings are not designed to run 3/16" offset in the bearing bores.
The soft plug on the back of the block is almost flush. What should I do? Drive the soft plug in until it's sub-flush? Will I have to drive it out and re-seal it? Can I just put a ring of sealant on the outside after driving sub-flush. What's the spec on cam end play? Sub-flush by 3/16" seems like a lot.
