Drill the hole slightly smaller, coat the ferrule or hole with slicone, the gently drive the ferrule in, the grooves on the ferrule wii grip the side of the hole, the silicone helps bond the ferrule.
I can't remember what size hole I drilled but I used a micrometer on the ferrule to determine its size then used a drill bit one size smaller. Taped the hole to protect the paint, drilled the hole then with a bit of care and a judicious use of a white rubber mallet I drove the ferrules home through the 'glas.
