David, you may wanna wait until tomorrow to start on your fuel line....you may not like the look of how the fittings turn out.

Dblbarrel-
Real men cook... and MY kitchen has TWO ovens.
BH and I worked out a deal decades ago- she cooks, she cleans up and washes dishes.
I cook, she cleans up and washes dishes.
I have my own cooking forum.

All this talk of polished fittings got me in a mood...Guess what I spent my Sunday doing???
Three bouts of oven cleaner like Blykins described, followed by 1500 wet/dry, then 2000 wet/dry, and polished with Tripoli on a Dremel felt wheel. Not too shabby
If I ever own a Kirkham it will be polished by someone else or painted!

Well, the Daytona 500 is over and I spent all of ten minutes in the shop on the AN fittings........I can only say one thing,,,,,IT WORKS,REALLLL EASY..... Took two sprays with some very old weak oven cleaner and then I passed each part on my grinder/wire wheel brush, gives a slightly rough finish, will polish to a finer finish later, but the wire wheel gets everything out of the little cracks........
Very please with the outcome and took about ten minutes to do.........

Here's a closeup of one end of the fittings, they are not as dull as the picture may show, actually look pretty good in this state, but I will hit them with a buffing wheel tomorrow just to give them a little shine.....

Thanks
Well I decided to de-anodize the AN fittings which would match my silver powder coated fuel log better, WOW It works surprisingly easy, looks much better as well! thanks for this slick idea! posted a photo in my gallery.
