351C which carb?

I just replaced my old motorcraft 650 with a Holley 750 with vacuum secondaries. We're still fine tuning things as I'm at 4500 elevation. It's had it's hiccups and I'm not sure it's performing like it should. After reading some posts I'm wondering is this too much carb for the 351C. I don't know any of the motor specifics other than it has the edelbrock performer manifold.
What's your humble opinons on a 351C and the 750. is it doable, or should I bump back down to a 700 or 650cfm?

My question is why would you use a Vacuum carb?

It would seem that a mechanical 650 Mighty Demon or Speed Demon would be a better choice.

What issues are you having?

Not enough information to make a recommendation. Demon has a spec sheet that you can fill out and they will recommend a carb. Hard to go wrong.

Ford testing back in the early seventies showed a 20 HP increase just from switching from a 750'ish carb to a 830 carb on a stock high performance Cleveland. So to much? Probably not. Would you want to live with a 830 for a driver? Probably not. Basically, you need to provide a LOT more information for any one to make a good recomendation.

First you need to findout what your CFM should be. There are several threads in this subject. Then you need to determine your preferences. Things like do you need a choke or do you want a little better gas milage.

Rickal. Say that fast enough and put a Don in front.

I have a Holley 750, vacuum secondaries, and a chokeless center section. My heads are 4v, been milled to produce 10.25 compression, and I have intake and exhaust port plates from MPG Head Service. Intake is a Performer. My engine dynoed at 378 hp, and 401 ft lbs of torque. I have played with jets and accelerator pump cams, and have excellent driveability. If I drive easy, I can get about 15 mpg. Rear gears are 3.55 with a wide ratio toploader. Hope this gives you a little more insight.
