TWM Fuel Inj. for 427 FE??
Anyone had any experience with a company called TWM? They have 56 and 58mm Injection set ups for 427s. I couldnt tell what heads they fit. They want 4200.00 for the set up. I'm planning an Alum Block stroker and need any info on this co and product. Help!

Hey Guys!
Are the TWM set ups used for primarily race applications, or are they alright for street use also. What about resale value? Would a csx car be more desireable with weber style fuel injection from TWM, or with the standard 4v with the turkey pan? Just curious.
Cheers, Hinds..

Michael4yah,
The TWM setup works amazingly well on the 427 FE motor! I am running a Shelby aluminum block with Edelbrock heads. The induction system is so efficient that it silenced my exhaust somewhat (not much, but enough to tell the difference) and my nasty rough idle was reduced to a rumpity rump. Not much mind you, but enough to make a difference. You will not gain anymore HP, but the torque is incredible. Lance Nist of Pantera Specialty in your area, (OC) supplied the TWM setup AND all the computer stuff to go with it. Dave Dralle up at Willow Springs Raceway did the install. The car is much more driveable with this configuration. If you want to see my car in person and check out the system, I will be at the Fabulous Fords show at Knott's in April at the Shelby display.

Bill (Slither,) did the stacks on your TWM come white, or did you have them powdercoated? They look great!

LwCwb, thanks for the generous comment. Actually neither. The horns have that spun aluminum look to them. However, they would look great powder coated white, wouldn't they? The horns also are available in carbon fiber. Thanks again!

Bill, your whole car looks great! I have a video on my computer of 4266, so it sounds as good as it looks.

Mike, that video must have bee at Las Vegas at SAAC does Vegas 7. That was the first time the car had been on the track. I have several videos now. My favorite is an 18 minute in car video that I took at Willow Springs, CA. That was a hoot! I just took some more pictures of the fuel injection. I will post a couple of them in my gallery. Check them out. Are you going to Fontana in CA for SAAC 30 on the 4th of July? It will be fun! Thanks again for the kind comments!

Bill, hopefully I will get out to one of the SAAC Events sometime, don't think we will be doing much this year due to the house (building it ourselves, hope it isn't a nightmare ).

Bill Thanks for your reply. Did you also buy the air box and was it difficult in getting it to fit under the hood? What computor equipt did you buy and what was its cost? Did you get the 56 or 58 mm models? The last 427 FE I had was in a Ford Custom (post galaxie) in 1968. It was barely streetable. It always smelled of fuel and loaded up if it idled more than a few minutes. The floats in those old carbs stuck frequently but it ran like a banshee when running right. I wanted this Hi Tech Aluminum Cobra to do the same but wanted it to have street manners. Can you send me your audio file of it running? Thanks, I appreciate your comments. Before spending 4K+ I wanted to make sure of these things.
Michael

Bill, I forgot to ask did you do any work to the Edelbrock heads? Can the TWM inj. be matched to all 3 stages of Edelbrocks heads? Thanks again. Michael

Michael, the Edelbrock heads were modified quite a bit, but the manifold seems to have sealed real well. No problems. I went with the 58mm models. Check out my picture gallery, I added an overhead shot of the TWM setup. I did not go with the air box because I didn't like the way it looked. If you use that air box, you would have to modify the opening on the underside of your hood. I am looking in to a set of push on foam filters. As for the audio file, I'll work on it.

I have the TWM setup on a 460 motor. I had mine chromed and they look great. They were very easy to install and setup. The driveablilty has been supurb. Mine are the 58mm and you can see this setup by going to my engine builders web site at
www.badassracing.com
Go to the GAllery and scroll down left side to Mike's 66 Cobra.
If you have any questions, e-mail me.

Bill. What kind of computer system did you use and what did it cost? TWM sells a handheld system to calibrate them but it didnt say anything about computers or wiring harnesses etc. Do you think that the success you are having is a direct result of the computer aids or would it run as smoothly without as long as they were calibrated? Thanks Michael

Mohuska, The Western States Cobra Bash is the brainchild of Mr. Duane Decooney. He brought the idea of having a gathering of Cobras, GT 40's and Daytona Coupes to the West Coast. He even put a poll on this website as to where everyone wanted to meet. The decided out come was Reno, Nevada based at the Peppermill Hotel/Casino. The deadline for registration is tax day, April 15th. Ther is a website also. www.westernstatescobrabash.com If at all possible, you should try to make this event.

Michael4yah, all of my electronics came from Lance Nist at Pantera Specialists in Santa Ana, CA. He can be reached at (949) 250-1797. We are using the Electromotive computer system. My car is tuned by my laptop computer. Lance designed the software also. Good luck!!!
