Not Ranked
Never had a choke....it's a Mighty Demon.
I had a lot of stuff going on this past weekend. Found out my battery probably has a shorted cell. Alternator works though.
Past couple of weeks when I went home to work on the car, I noticed that on a cold start, it was harder to keep it running than usual and it didn't start as quick. Usually I pump it half throttle 3 times and it fires right up and doesn't die. This time it would fire and run then die....Then when I could keep it running I would notice a slight miss on the driver's side and it would pop a few times...
After it warmed up, it was a little better....but still had a slight miss when holding the throttle around 2000 revs...Didn't seem to have as quick of a throttle response as usual. When I shut it off and let it set for a few seconds, I'd have to give it a couple of pumps to get it to start again....
I changed plugs this past weekend. Went with Champion RC12YC's.
Dad came up to the garage and he couldn't hear what I was hearing, but I insisted that it wasn't acting the same. After a buddy came over, I fired it up again, and for some reason Dad heard it that time. While I was still in the car, he grabbed a screwdriver and set the mixture on all four corners. The miss went away at 2000 revs....and it started as quick as it used to. I shut it off and let it sit for a little bit....then while standing outside of the car, I reached in and hit the key to start it....started instantly without having to give it any gas.
So it seems like everything is back the way it used to be. I watched Dad when he adjusted the mixture screws, he
ran the driver's side screws out. So that means he richened that side up, right?
Everything seems fine now....I'm just trying to work things through logically in my mind as to what condition causes what symptoms.
I'll try to call you after I get home from work Bruce....it will probably be around 4PM EST. Thanks for the offer.
