Question rear coil springs for classic roadster????

It's been a long time since we've been here. But we're re-starting our build (again) I need some advice on rear coil springs and what donor springs I might be able to use.I'm building a C.R. with a 351 windsor. I have a Ford 8.8 rear end. I bought a partial kit from someone ages ago and the springs that I have are too short. They are 3.5" inside diameter which seems right but they are not long enough. ANYBODY?????

Do you have the large adjuster screws that are used with the CR set-up?

Hmmm...

I swapped out the larger coil springs in favor of coilovers. I'll check tonight and measure the length of the springs I took out.

How long are the ones you have?

they measure 11" but they're too short. I think we need about 14-15" But I'm not sure.???

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping I found some at Ramchargers. They have some 3.5" inside diameter and 14" long. Do you think that they'll work?

I suppose they will. Depends on the spring rate and what you want the ride height to be. You can always cut a coil or two to get them where you want them.

Good luck!

Thanks Dwain
we're going to see how these fit. They are rated at 250#. We're kinda running blind on this so if there's anymore input on size or rating reccomendations...feel free... Are you looking to get rid of the ones you didn't use on your car? Let me know and we'll see if the ones I ordered fit or not. Thanks again.

No reason to feel like you're running blind building a CR. Drop down to Manufacturers links to Classic Roadsters II, and we're all there. Don Scott is the owner of CRII, and returns e-mails.

Couple of ways to go on rear springs. CR has regular Blue Coil springs you can get. They also have a coil over setup. The original spring specified was from a Chevette. Moog makes (or at least used to make) a load leveler spring for the Chevette (PN: 663, or 633) available at any auto supply store. They're progressive wound, so cruising is gentle. Cost when I bought them was ~$70/pr. Still in car and working fine. No modifications, take 'em out of the box and drop 'em in.

Dave,

If you want/need the springs I have, we'll work something out.

Let me know!
