Default Ford 392W, which air cleaner assy is best?

I am putting a Ford Motor Sports 392W into a Backdraft racing Cobra. I am trying to decide on which air cleaner assembly to use. Is there a good balance between looks and performance. I don't want to install an air cleaner that reduces performance.

The thing you have to watch is the hood clearance. The skinny 1 " oval air cleaners look really cool but are chokers. You would have to take some measurments to see if a taller element will fit. The old Stelling and Hellings air cleaners are terrible in the air flow department also. I wound up using a 14" Dia X 3" drop base cleaner from Moroso on mine.

Default backdraft air cleaner

Cobrak , I have a K&N with the filter top on my crate 392 it looks great, and helps with breathing ! Youre going to love your backdraft . Ive put about 3000 miles on mine and it has been virtully trouble free, when you drive it easy its smooth and rattle free but when you hit the loud peddle holy s--t!!!Good luck with your new wheels.

I'll be putting on the Pro-Flow 1000 from Edelbrock on my Demon... that may be another option.

Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Sid,
I beg you, don't put that on your BDR. That aircleaner is for rusted out '78 Camaros ... please oh please.

Hood clearance is a big issue.I have a small block with performer rpm and 750 holley. I use moroso 14" drop base and it clears fine and gets plenty of air.
