Default Fender Cover Question

I want to get a pair of fender covers (protectors) with Cobra logo. So I did a search on Google and others, and only found 2 with Cobra logo.

One with 5 logos on Branda and Cobra Accessories which has the same shape (2 ribs) like any standard fender cover from any automotive web site. Another one from Racing Superstore which is just a slab of no skid neoprene rubber with BIG snake.

Which one would you recommend .... or another one that I did not find?

Thanks in advance

I mentioned Cobra Accessories in my post. Guess I should have said Finish Line. I've only had the Cobra for a year, so many of the names and lingos are new to me.

One thing that I did not mention in the post was that the cover on the Branda site looks identical to the one on the Finish Line site - same logos in the same position. The picture on the site is not as clear as the one on Finish line, but I cannot be sure its identical. The price on Branda is $16.95, but on Finish Line its $28.00 If it is the same cover, that's a BIG difference in price.

Default fender covers

Beach towels are easier on the paint job and you can wash them.

Default Fender Covers

Eleven years ago I thought Cobra logo fender covers were great, so I bought a pair and used them. They put far too many micro scratches, change that to scratches, on both fenders.

Bath towels and some masking tape are my recommendation.

I agree that the beach towells are best. I gave away two sets of the regular coves because of the small scratches they put on both cars. Then I had a friend who has a garage get me some of the really soft cloth ones that he uses from his supplier and that is what I use now.

I bought some "standard" fender covers from Napa and tried them once and haven't used them since. They were way too stiff to be practical. Now I just use a big moving blanket. It seems to work fine.

I have a couple of 2 X 3 foot, rubber-backed bathroom throw rugs which I use as fender covers. The rubber holds them in place and the woven carpeting helps prevent damage should you happen to drop anything on the fender. In AZ, I have to replace them every couple of years because the heat in the garage causes the rubber to dry out and crack. Not as classy as logo-ed covers, but they're cheap and work well.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I think I'll go with the bath towels and masking tape.

Maybe I can find a couple of nice ones in titanium with black stripes to match the car ....

I have two sets of fender covers. One set is just the normal automotive ones that slide all over just for the quick jobs, and the others are like a soft neoprene that stick to the fender and have the logo on them. They come in black and red. They don't move or slide. Your wrenches do not slide around either. Check out my pictues, and if you are interested let me know. I think I have the buisness card at work. I went out in the garage adn found the card. Go to www.ssnake-oyl.com then to their catalog to look at fender covers.

Scott

Thanks for the reply. I just ordered one of the Fender Grippers. Talked with Ron at Ssnake-Oyl and he was very helpful - could not order it online. Sounds like it will give a lot more protection against dropping tools, belt buckles, etc and will not scratch paint as compared to what I was using.

Curtis & Scott

Just got the fender gripper from Ssnake-Oyl.

Just one word - fantastic. The standard length is great, but I think the extra long one will be better, so I'm going to order another. In fact, because I have another car (70 Olds 442) in a garage about 8 miles away, I'll have to order 2 more!
