Expansion tank plumbing ???
OK, I got me expansion tank from Enzo, have it all mounted, now I need to plumb it in.
It has 3 outlets, one for the radiator hose to the radiator, then it has 2 small outlets one in the neck of the filler tube under the cap and the other on the actual side of the tank towards the top.
I am think the small one in the neck under the cap is for the overflow, and will need ran into my overflow tank. but I have no idea where the one on the side of the tank needs to go or what it is actually for, or if it is actually needed. I do not have any other inlets in my radiator or anywhere else that I know of.
Can someone help and give me some instructions on plumbing this in properly.

Jim, if it is like the 427 expansion tank, then:
yes the small one in the neck under the cap is for the overflow line
and the small one on the opposite side of the large radiator pipe is attached to the top of the radiator tank (opposite the large tube inlet) . In the picture attached, see the top right of the rad
I believe that is essentially an air bleed to prevent air pockets

The outlet on the side of the tank towards the top is on the same side as the larger outlet for the raditor hose. I agree this looks like some typr of air bleed, but my raditor does not have an inlet or outlet for an air bleed or another connection.
Could you just plug this out let off?

Jim,
on my KMP, the expansion tank is the highest point of the cooling system. Not sure if youcan safely block it off.. Do you have a picture of your tank?

Mine is blocked off. I have a "bleeder" fitting at the top of the radiator. I COULD put a fitting in there and attach the water tank blocked off fitting to it, but didn't bother.
Mine runs fine, stays cool. I DO use the "bleeder" valve on the top of the radiator to let any trapped air bleed out there. I suppose it would be easier to just hook up the extra water tank outlet instead.

No I do not have a picture of the tank, how ever comparing it to the picture of your tank it would be the outlet on the left corner of your tank. The others are the same, one for the raditor hose and the other in the neck under the cap for an over flow, I assume.

Yup, the one under the tank cap is for "over pressure" flow release. The one on the left is nothing more than a secondary "radiator hose" outlet.

So whats your plan for bleeding trapped air in the top of your radiator? I have a "valve" for that so I don't "have" to have the secondary pipe fitting from the tank. BEFORE I figured out how easy it was TO trap an air pocket in the top side of the tank I DID have over heating issues.
You could jack the car up one side and allow the air pocket (if there is one) to move toward the upper radiator hose. Just a thought...

I think the small tube is intended to be an air bleed to eliminate air pockets in the high point of the radiator. It forms an outlet path for the air to escape from the radiator to the tank.

One more question to this topic. I have a puke tank on mine. Small black tank with an port on the top and one on the bottom. The bottom has a shut off valve. Would I run the under the cap outlet hose to the top or the bottom of the tank? I would think the top of the tank, and keep the valve closed for the most part and periodically drain it??
