Notice the dates I'm responding to several old posts not the last post above with the Black Supper Snake replica

I really love this rear facing scoop posted by Morris. Always have, No rain into front of scoop and not dumping on distributor. I want to buy one or a copy, aluminum or fiberglass. I think it is a winner. Sorry to be so slow on the trigger. Getting ready to do something drastic. This scoop is not traditional and but more functional. I'd bet with my aero understanding that with a tray on my dual fours, it would work great. I'd cut my hood for this and repaint. Cutting is drastic.
Again I want to buy.

That car, I think, is an ERA copy of Shelby’s “Super Snake”, CSX3015. The scoop accommodates twin Paxton superchargers. There was a second Super Snake, CSX3303, built for Cosby.

Not that one , I'm talking about the aluminum scoop by Morris > Time and NASCAR has shown that cowl induction at the windshield works better at speed. I like the elaborate chin splitter but it would not work on street driven car on a track yes, BUT

The gloss black fiberglass car and wide hood scoop with the opening near the front edge of the hood is a replica of the two original Super Snakes, Shelby made with twin belt driven Paxton super chargers. One was supposed to be for Bill Cosby. Not sure if Bill returned it or what. It didn't work for him.

Yes, cowl induction is way better for cold air, especially over a fibreglass bonnet.

It's been several years since the build. How did that cowl induction scoop work? What would you have done differently? Have you made any more cowl scoops to fit Cobra replicas? Did you make any patterns or mock-ups, molds? Fiberglass or aluminum? What were the approximant dimensions of this scoop? It is a beautiful piece. I'd be interested in a copy, fiberglass or aluminum.. I have an old EM fiberglass replica, This is the thing that I would change on my car.

The Hood Scoop or reverse air induction we built was actually made to help evacuate the air coming in the radiator ... it is working like it is suppose to ... if you notice I did not bring it close to the windshield even thought the Windshield is very short anyway...

No we did not make any patterns.... we just sat down and figured how we wanted to make it cover the large Air Cleaner we made and move air out of the engine compartment.

I've Attached a few photo's to let you see what you need to see. We have a large hole in the hood that the scoop cover up and it works well as we do use a Holley 4500 1200 CFM and it works great

My cowl induction has airflow INTO the rear of the scoop from the HIGH pressure area created at the base of the windshield. This occurs from the airflow direction change at the base of the screen.

Airflow through the radiator exits the engine bay under the car.

The carburettor breathes COLD air from the entry of air at the rear of the scoop.

If hot engine bay air exits from the rear, then the engine is breathing this hot air.

Try some stands of wool taped to the rear edge to see which way the air flows.

You will see the wool pulled into the scoop.

On a conventional vehicle I would agree with you....however, if you look at KMP259....you will see exactly what I mean.....with a short windshield and the evacuation of air out of the engine compartment..also the vents in the hood as well as the Torsional Plates on the bottom of the chassis gives it the movement of air we wanted....KMP259 has our own Aero package that was designed for high speed stability......and at 186 mph....it is stable as a rock.....especially at Road America 3 times a lap.....

I agree with you since there are a few differences, the main being the short screen and the distance between the rear of the scoop and the screen.

Would still be interested in results of a wool test.

186mph is not hanging around, especially in a short wheelbase. ;)
