elgecko,

Why do you want to have a forward pull throttle cable? I like to drill a hole in the firewall behind the air cleaner so it isn't really seen. Maybe your kit doesn't have a similar set as mine. Maybe these will help.

It looks like a transmission shifter cable. Am I right?

No it is a uniflex throttle cable from CSR. You can find them at they're website www.csr-performance.com They have a lot of items I use for my builds.

You can get those cables from B&M at any large speed shop or Jeg's or Summit. They are automatic shifter cables, you want the universal one and it comes in various lenghts.

I routed mine to pull from the front of the carb. My engine mounts were modified to move the engine as far back as possible. As a result, the rear of the engine is at about the same lattitude (proper word?) as the pedal mount which results in some bind. Mounting forward is no big deal. Just reverse the throttle cable bracket and mount to the lower part of the carb arm that actuates the throttle plate (as opposed to the top of the arm for rearward pull). I had to cut a small piece of aluminum for use as a bracket to extend the throw to fully open the throttle. My setup employs a Holley aluminum bracket and a Lokar universal cable. I can take a pic if you like.

Thanks Curt.
My pedal lever exits the upper front side of my footbox. Two options..... go with "original style" rods and heim joints or do a front pull system with a Lokar.
Looking at these options. Pics would be nice. I know I sdaw this setup somewhere on this site.

yes we had this question before, look at my gallery, if you click twice on my engine photo it will get real close, you will see my forward pull Lokar universal cable hookup, in the photo I still have the Edelbrock carb on, I have since changed to a Holley, still using the same cable hookup, there where some folks who said that the Lokar cable had broken on them, mine has not

I try to stay away from Lokar. I have had two failures, the ball came off the end of the cable. I also have several that haven't had any problems as well. I like the uniflex cables better.

If you want to try something different and they really work great on mid-engine cars give CNC, Inc. San Diego,CA a call for their catalog (619-275-1663). They have a complete line of brake-clutch and HYDRAULIC THROTTLES pedals and cylinders.

Default Lokar Cables

On the Lokar cables I have only seen one failure and it was the stainless braided style. Also based on my discussions with other builders (high build numbers) the standard style with the black sheath hold up well. Two springs are sufficient with the Lokar style.

So you are saying that stainless steel braided style have different cables than black styled cables. Huh.

Perhaps, based on my experience, and the experience of 2 of your suppliers... I'm sure overspringing the assembly could put additional strain on the cable as well.

Based on your experience, I guess. The failures were due to a two spring set up not on a 4 spring setup as pictured.

I am often dissapointed when a member asks a question or for some help in these forums & a couple of other members who start out trying to help end up in a nasty childish pissing contest.
KNOCK THIS $HIT OFF!!!!
It totally ruins a otherwise fantastic resourse.
We are all here for one reason---We love the Cobra experience!
If you have a overpowering urge to prove to the world how superior you are take it somewhere else PLEASE.
& don't bother with the "if you don't like it don't read it" crap.
I am here to read & learn, I have to read it in order to get to the good stuff.

Merry Xmas to all

Craig,
Sorry it appears you stepped in something here. My only intent was to contribute to the discussion based on experience with the Lokar cables that many people successfully use and continue to use.

I echo your frustration with the defensive nature of some posters...

Heck I'm sure someone has found a way to break every cable

Thank you GENTLEMAN for your response.
From the photos of both your builds it appears the two of you are high on the integrity scale & do very nice work. I wish we had builders of the same caliber in my neck of the woods.
