Smile no oil to top end!

I need help from the 427 gurus! I have a early 1960's 427 side oiler in a Ford
GT replica I recently bought. I bought the car at a auction and have no history on who built the engine but everything was recently rebuilt. First problem was overheating and no oil to the top end. The rocker assembly were bent and bolt in heads were broken off. I had an experienced Ford tech
take the engine completely apart and found the camshaft bearings were installed wrong covering up the oil passage to the top end and the wrong head bolt in the supply passage to the top end. Everything else looked good.
We reassembled engine and put in the proper camshaft bearings and repaired
the damage and had the heads checked. Now had oil getting to the top end and the vehicle ran great. About 100 miles later began to hear loud valve/lifter noise from top end. Had it towed and now not getting oil to the top end again.Any ideas on what to check or where to start before we pull the engine back out?I have always been a small block guy and my first FE. All help is appreciated!

It's been several years for me,but the 427 cam was different in construction. It had grooves cut into 2 of the cam journals (1&3, or 2&4) to supply oil to the top end.

Are you using a stock rocker assembly? Some rocker assemblies require that the oil holes in the shaft point down towards the head. FE's aren't fed through the pushrods like SBF's are...they're fed through passages in the head itself.

Like has been said. You need the 427 cam with grooves, 427 specific cam bearings, and make sure they put the bolt with the cut down area in the right hole for oiling. Check the rockers also. Doesn't need lots of oil, but does need oil. Jim
