Default Expansion tank leak - pin hole

I have had a small leak after installing a 60's style expansion tank and I think I have found where it orginates. It does not leak when cool but when the engine warms up and makes pressure it creates a very small drip on the bottom of the exp. tank that will leak a couple of drops per drive directly on the top of the alternator. The leak is not located near any hoses so I think I have a pinhole in the exp. tank. Do I need to take the tank to an radiator shop to have it repaired or is there a product (JB Weld?) that one can use to alleviate this problem.
Thanks for any assistance!!

I'd take it off and take it to a radiator shop so they can pressure test it. That will let you know if it's for sure the tank or not....and if it is, they can braze it.

Terry the tank on my car leaked just like yours and I had a radiator shop fix and pressure test it a couple of years ago. At last years WSCB it started leaking on the cruise to the lake and overheated the car. I tried some stop leak and thought I had it fixed. I went to the track at Fernley for a open track on the Monday following the Bash and it really started leaking. I finally just bought a new tank as the old one had been repaired to many times. No leaking with the new tank.

A special solder needs to be used for it to hold up well. There was a thread on this last year. I solved my problem permanently (after two attempts to correct the problem) by getting a stainless steel one from Southern Automotive. No more leaks or hassle.
