paint repair/color matching?

My Midstates was hit while parked today and the front opening was beat up a bit. Now I am trying to figure out how to handle the insurance companies questions. I was once told that the 2000 Corvette Millenium paint is a tint and not a solid color so it will be close to impossible to color match the paint after the repairs. Does anybody have experience with this type of paint and blending in repairs? Is it possible? I am going to take it to some experts for repair but I am expecting a fight from the other guy's insurance company. The impact caused the glass to break clear through so the repair will take some fiberglass work.

Thanks for any information, I am hoping that I am just over reacting after seeing my car hurt.

A quality body shop should have no problem blended the paint match after repair. Depending on who he uses for a paint material supplier, he should be able to use their "eye" (laser paint match tool available for tough color matches when the original paint mix code is unknown) to get a close enough formula to blend the paint repair so it is seamless. Blending repairs is not for the backyard painter, so make sure you take your car to a shop that is experienced in fiberglass work and proper blending techniques.

I feel your pain a couple months ago my better half backed into he rear decklid of mine while it was parked in the garage.

Same issue hit with truck with hitch, my local body shop that I have had plenty of work over the years fixed me up.
Matched the stripe lines perfectly and like mentioned above the color matched via a scan tool (technology is amazing).

My cost was $600.00 and yours doesn't look any worse than mine was. The whole rear decklid was spidered so they had to sand and recoat entire lid.

Just be sure to go to a quality repair shop preferably one you have done business with before.
