Cobra windshield vibration
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution. At about 35 mph I get a audible vibration from what appears to be the windshield. If I put pressure on it by pushing or pulling the vibration will stop. I have adjusted it forward/ back/up and down and it stops for a few miles then starts again. The mount bolts are secure and the center windshield brace is tight. The car is an Aurora which of course is a "289" style car which really isn't relevent but thought I would mention it.

Not familiar with that particulars, other than pictures. I'd try to see if the frame assy it is bolted to isn't vibrating against something or worse yet, cracked somewhere. Just a guess, hope you figure it out.

does your car have a steel cowl hoop that runs under the cowl from one side to the other and is it bolted to the frame or welded if bolted then check the bolts to make sure they are tight if welded the maybe you have a tire out of balance and you are getting a vibration from that or maybe you just need more braceing under the cowl where the windshield mounts........good luck

windshield problem
I have owned 3 aurora's and have never had a vibration in the windshield.I would start looking for something that is making contact with the frame. I assume you have a center mount at the bottom of the windshield. Check to see if the side rails of the windshield are making contact with the fiberglass body. Good luck, Jim

If you have visors are they horizontal, or sticking up? Try horz.
Was the windshield glass replaced, and if so, was it glued in, or was only a rubber seal used? Sealant may help.
I think there are screws from the side of the windshied frame that go into the bottom windshield frame piece. Are they tight?
Does the windshield bolt to the frame? If so, when the bolts are out, is there any clearance between the mounts and the frame? Solid shims (washers) may be needed between the windshield frame and frame mounting location vs letting the bolt pull the windshield frame to the car frame.
If that front weatherstripping is not glued down to the body, it will start flapping at speed. This flapping could cause the windshield to vibrate.

Windshield rattle
I have a squeek from my SPF windshield once in a while. Like you, when I put pressure on the frame it stops. I wedged a thin piece of metal where the frame meets the car and it worked. But I have been contemplating a better more permanent way to take up that space. I will watch this thread to see what others have experienced. Im sure we arent the only ones....

Thanks for the replies and I apolgize for the long time in getting back to this. There was NOT a vibration in the windshield until I removed it for a day with the racing screens on. I reinstalled the windshield and discovered this vabration. It bolts directly to the frame and has ample clearance from the cowl. I have adjusted it up, down, back and forward. I have installed lock washers, removed them, played with torque on the bolts, reoved the bottom frame brace and all to no avail. I have owned 4 of these Auroras and about 7 other Cobras and never had an issue like this. I appreciated the feedback but it looks like time to pull the dash and check for something loose that is somehow connected to the framing.

Have you ever had it replaced? the reason I ask is because I seem to remember that there are two types of windshields for the SPF with slightly differnet specs.

I didn't run the car on the track, I had these screens and threw them on for the day running around the city so I did not change anything on the car other than unbolt then reinstall the windshield. The windsheild and frame was replaced by the last owner several years ago. No vibration in the seat/car or steering wheel. It all comes from behind the dash and stops when pressure is put on the windshield (I push it physically or pull it), oddly at speed (over 40 mph) the vibration is present although there has to be significant force on it. This is quite audible even at speed in an open Cobra and is not progressive!
I have to think now that I have changed some fine balance by not tightening this back into the position it was in originally. I don't want to waste all of your time with something that is probably just going to need me getting someone in the passenger seat to start testing areas under/behind the dash when it occurs. The vibration was not there before and nothing has changed with the car.
I appreciate all the assistance but I think now it will take time and investigation with a passenger trying to trace this.
