Kirkham For Sale
Hey folks,
Looks like I may be putting up my 2007 Kirkham (#492) for sale. My two sons are nearing driving age...and it is just too much of an 'attractive hazard'. If you know of interested parties, please send them my way!
Basics:
Less than 1500 miles
427/492 Keith Craft with Pond Block.
Polished with brushed stripes
wool carpet
leather seats
seat track
halon extinguisher (engine compartment)
polished radiator overflow
adjustable penske suspension
etc. etc.
Great car....
Have not set price....if you have some thoughts on that, would appreciate (constructive) input!
Thanks!
Al

Al - Good luck on finding a buyer. If you want a handle on pricing I suggest you look over the listings at www.cobracountry.com.

...and please list it in the for Sale forum rather than here.
BTW...good luck. It's a damn nice car.

Sorry to hear you're selling. Frankly, I'd just put a rev limiter in there when you're away; can't do too much damage with a 1,000RPM limit!
All joking aside, good luck; someone will be happy when they see this car.

Maybe I should have two in my garage....
I'm sorry to hear you're selling Al. It seems like only yesterday that you acquired it and got it running. Oh it was yesterday.
Best of luck with the sale and the kid's ski training at Squaw.

Don't sell it; instead, when your sons reach driving age sign them up for the SCCA autocross course and then campaign the car together. It is great fun, and they will learn car control in a safe setting. My son and I campaigned ours all through his high school years together and it was fun, a great bonding experience, and he became an excellent driver in the process. Driving at the limit in a fast car on the weekend reduces the urge to do stupid things with a car during the week, which teens are prone to doing even in a Honda.
Just an idea...

Mark: You have the right idea! Autocrossing is how I learned to drive (and give up my street racing) a long time ago. Rich

My Recommendation - Get them their own mustang(s) or etc -- and with events , -teach them respect of the Krikham, make them proud its in the family, not sad that Dad wouldn't possibly trust them with it around.
My wifes parents had a Burgundy and black striped 69 Olds 442. -- guess what they sold when she was 15. --guess what drove a wedge that exists 25 years later.
Keep the car, -make sure it is insured, work on a way to keep it locked down if you go away for the weekend, immobilizer. -- but honestly - you should be able to teach them what is cool, and not cool with regards to the car. -- it can be used as a tool for good, and bring you guys closer together as "guys" --
The kirkham cars are sooo nice, they deserve to be an heriloom -- keep it.
Steve
