I was at this event and yes she was ok. Actually drove another car later in the day. The Cobra on the other hand was messed up pretty goo but it did look repairable.

Very odd, as there was not a major turn where they spun (setup for next turn), looks like they locked up the brakes trying to slow down for the up and comming turn (panic). They also turned the wheel, a big no no, in cases like that, this is what caused the flip.

One reason why more and more organizations are no allowing convertibles w/o a full roll cage.

Sure was nice of the 3 cars following her to stop and make sure she was Ok , I assume the guy who did stop and was doing the filming was also driving a cobra

It's aginst most track rules, in racing we are NEVER allowed to get out of the car unless a steward tells us to do so or there is a fire on board, so they would have been wrong to stop and help. Also there was a stewad stand right at the point they spun. Seems odd but those are th rules to prevent someone from getting hit while tring to help

Looks like the filming car was a Porsche GT3 by the wing. Not something I ever want to experience.

How can you tell the front wheels were turned? They look straight enough when you see the underside of the car....and the c-of-g is so low...how does this happen?

Look at about 38 seconds into film and pause it you can see the wheels are turned pointing towards you, this will cause car to start to grab as car momentum is heading down track. Best thing you can do is to hold the wheel loose and let it go where it wants. I have seen so many flips happen because of folks trying to correct the direction of the car.

Something else that my have contributed to the roll over. I had noticed earlier in the day that her car's ride height seemed a bit to high for my taste. it looked much higher than even my street alignment. Also from the video the car's springs/shock seem very soft. Check out at 3 sec in when she gets on the brakes how much nose drive, again at 12 seconds how much body roll when she's exiting Oak Tree (at not a very fast pace) and finally at 13 sec when she gets on the gas how much squat is exhibited. Combine the seemingly soft/high suspension setup with brake lock up and a spin seems to have contributed to the roll over. Mac

It's a very strange accident.
She was obviously hard on the brakes at that point and it seems that right at the point she spun it looks like there is a transition in the track surface or maybe something had been laid down on the track at one time, that actually caused the spin. The way she left the Porsche like he was tied to a stump indicates to me that it is probably a big block car. All that weight on the nose of a car that obviously sits too high and is rather softly sprung, it wants to swap ends at threshold braking. As the car came around she hit the "drier" part of the track and over she went. It was the perfect storm. Major bummer.

Surface transitions are usually not a problem unless they are wet (asphalt to concrete or pick your surfaces), what usually happens is there is a weight shift due to the transition and then the surface on the front tires does not match that of the back tires and one winds up losing traction. Many tracks around here have surface transitions and only real major issue one is PIR when leaving the chicane
