Any thoughts on custom headers???
I have a 331 stroker with a hydraulic roller cam and 48 IDAs to go into my ERA 289FIA that is being completed this winter. I had not given much thought to having a custom set of headers built, and had more or less planned on using whatever ERA provides as "stock", but today thought why not at least explore the option. As I understand it, anything that improves air flow is a good thing, but there is no reason to throw money away. I guess I was wondering how much bang for the buck is available. Thanks in advance for your help!

Former Kooks employee - expensive but excellent work. Have done a friend's ERA FIA. Real smart tuned system, custom to your build.

Because I have a Chevy engine in my car I had to have custom pipes made. No one has ever thought that the motor is a Chevy because it does not sound like a typical one.
Custom equal length primaries make a huge difference to the smooth running of the motor.

Jeffy;
Some heads (like AFR's) have two sets of holes per exhaust port, an inner set and an outer set. If you have heads like that have the header flanges set up for the outer set. You can run larger tubes and it will make installation MUCH easier. Just a thought...

I had a beautiful sets of custom headers made for a '66 Corvette that I used to own. They were made by Sanderson Headers in South San Francisco. However, they had the car there in their shop in order to make them.
