Default Need a good machine shop in Sacramento Ca for my 351W project

The title says it all. I'm going to be putting together a stroker motor this summer, and need a reliable machine shop in the area. Anyone have some recommendations?

Thanks, Ron

Go Visit....

http://www.smedingperformance.com/fo...orsepower.html

And

http://www.fespecialties.com/

Both in Sacramento and have great reputations. You may be able to get the machine work done , Short Block or a complete engine.

Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I know Tom at FE Specialties pretty well, and will have him do my port work, but he does not do his own machine work.

As for Smedlings, they've moved to texas, otherwise I'd have given them a call.

I suppose I could just call Tom, and ask him, but I would like to get recommendations from as many people as I can before I make a decision.

Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,

You are welcome, you should also talk to Neil here in the local BACC. He has built several sweet windsor strokers and has a shop he uses here locally.

I knew that Smeding was going to move but, was not aware that they had gone to Texas.

PM me for Neil's contact info etc. if you want to pursue it.

Engines by REX. Built the cast iron FE in my bennett cobra 20 years ago and still going and going and going. Knows his stuff. Built blower motors for my drag boat days. I will take out engine in cobra soon to be refreshed, as I plan to turn bennett car into track use only soon. He has been in same location for long time. In the yellow pages.

These guys did some beautiful work on my Yates heads. Tom at FE used to use them but don't know if he still does.

I think this is their address & phone (been a few years):

John,

Nice to hear from you!! I know Rex from way back. Had him do a 428 crank for me years ago. But. it seemed like he concentrated on Chevy stuff, and it appeared that the crank had been sub'ed out.

Anyway, there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. I'll probably call Tom Lucas for his opinion when I have some time.

I'm still at work, so I can't spend time typing, but I'll PM you later tonight. It could be much later, so don't wait up.

Ron
