What type fuel line for today's pump gas?

Just had to remove all my AN-8 braided fuel line,due the fuel seeping thru it.
Had just put this in,during the summer,to replace the old braided line,and found a leak along the line,while the car is waiting out the Winter.
We use the 93 octane with 10% Ethanol here in Va.
What are you guys running for good durable flexible fuel line?

I'm running fuel injection rubber hose from my fuel pump to the carb and run the highest octane fuel I can find which I think is right around 93 octane? I know out here in the West they put some of that oxygenated crap in the fuel during the summer which probably doesn't help much for rubber part longevity. I'm wondering if your problem might be tied to the 10% Ethanol component? In any event higher pressure fuel injection hose might help a bit?

What brand hose are you using? Some are better than others. It all has a "Shelf Life"

"Fuel hose" is not meant for alcohol.

Nothing wrong with ethanol (grain alcohol), has its own merits, just causes many problems when mixed with petrol.

One problem is rubber hoses perishing.

I used Aeroquip teflon lined SS braided hose. It's impervious to everything and will last forever. I ran two -8 hoses from the tank to the engine, one supply and one return (I'm using a by-pass regulator to feed the carb).

I purchased the line from AED Performance,don't know who the manufacturer is. They are local,and it's where I get a few things,when I need it quick .
I will look into the Aeroquip line.
I ran that line thru a another piece of larger rubber hose,to act as an additional cover. I noticed fuel droplets coming out of the covering hose where it was cut back for the line fitting. I guess the additional hose was trapping the fuel vapors seeping thru the line,causing additional line failure.
You can actually squeeze the braided line,and get wetness on your hand,just like a sponge!

The key is the teflon liner.

Several manufacturers make it, several retailers sell it. I bought Aeroquip simply because they have a great reputation as a longtime supplier of aircraft hoses.

I bought mine from Summit, they carry various lengths and fittings.

I bought standard braided SS hose from Jegs and it weeps and leaves a strong fuel smell in my garage. After a lot of research I settled on XRP, which is used by a lot of race teams. It ain't cheap but it don't weep!

I did some searching and found a company,Precision Performance,that makes their own line,and for other companies as well. They are coming out with a new line with a liner,meeting SAE R9 specs,that gives similar benefits,as teflon.
No price on it yet,but the Aeroquip Teflon line,is $30.00+ per foot!!!
Anyway the guys at Precision sent me 20 ft. of R7 type line at no cost!
May use that until better line becomes available.

I don't know what size hose or from where you got your quote, but that price is way off.

More like $6.90/ft for -8 in a 20' length.

Keep in mind that nothing will last as long, or be as impervious, as teflon.

Our dispised Congress passed regulations several years ago that will require increasing amounts of ethanol in gasoline across the country. Suggest any fuel line you chose to make sure it will handle at least 15% ethanol. Best government money can buy. Just be aware, California does not require gas pumps to be labeled with the amount of ethanol in the gasoline. Most gasoline in California has 10% ethanol, no labels required!

Modern gas is terrible stuff , I can't see how they still call it gas.

Our choice is usually aeroquip with the lining or fuel lines from a top mfr, like gates , Goodyear etc,for the regular rubber type.

fuel injection hose can be a good thing, but do watch your hose clamps as some of the fuel lines "cut" easily , fuel injection hose clamps are not a bad upgrade if you can find them

Ethanol is crap unless you are running some high boost application specifically tuned for it. Then it is still crap but at least you are taking advantage of its good qualities.
