Default Early Hipo Heads

I was at a friends house and he has a set of early 289 hipo heads both dated 3M23 (one has the casting of "19" and the other has "21"). Is there a good way to tell if these may have come off a Cobra or a Fairlane (too early for Mustang)? If he wants to sell the heads, does it make any difference what they came off of? Any help is appreciated.
Jack

What are you gonna put them on. Let me rephrase that....they will fit on any small block. 289,302,351 windsor.

Other than that figuring out what they came off of dont really matter. What matters is what are you trying to do? If you looking to make more power than you need to know what they flow.

No way to tell what they came off of.....The 289 HIPO engines in the Fairlanes were the same as the ones sold to CS to put in the 2000 series Cobras........only the blocks were marked with the VIN of the vehicle, the heads were not marked in any way from Ford....
Depending on the condition or lack there of, of the heads, they could be worth as little as a hundred bucks, to someone needing those specific casting date for a restoration, they would be worth a lot more........
He just needs to find someone that needs those specific casting dates to get the most $$$ our of the heads.........Only folks with Cobras and Fairlanes would be interested in the casting dates as the Mustang didn't come out for another year or more.......

Thanks for the info guys. The heads are in good shape but will need valves cleaned or replaced along with installing hardened seats for today's gas and would make a good addition to a Fairlane or Cobra restoration. Like stated above, he just needs to find the right person needing that date code and he will probably end up putting them on ebay to reach a wide audience. I appreciate your help.

I have a set dated 3h7 that I want to use in a slabside. Did Shelby put any 289's into the 1962 cobras?

289's did not come along until later 1963 sometime.
