Roush 402IR 8 stack $44k ?
Is this Roush engine really $44.000 (+) ?
Although it's a great 500 hp engine, that seems extreme to me. Man, putting that much into say, a old FE, the new Shelby FE or side oiler, would be a hell of a motor.

It looks to be an order sheet for a roller?

Maybe so. I was at Barrett-Jackson about 5 years ago with my father and he started talking to the Roush sales guys about a small block stroker with a stack system. They talked for a long time and i knew my father wasnt understanding the sales rep correctly. Finally the guy said, "so the total for what you want comes to 32". My father replied that he could write a check for them at that very moment. That is when i pulled him to the side and told him it was 32,000 and not 3200. His jaw hit the floor. I got a good laugh out of it though.

I couldn't find a price for the 402IR but the current 'web' price of a 427IR from Hillbank is $23,055. Polished would take it up another $1,350 or so. Roush FI engines are uber pricey, no question about that but I'd like to know just what FI system makes a '351' motor $44k!!
Lance Stander could sell a drowning person a lead life preserver.
But I don't think he's that good.
Lots of ...... colorful information out there about Roush.

What is the cost ?
It's very pretty, cool stacked injection and ok 500 HP, but over priced. No pun intended buddy. Plus, you can't over ride the computer to adjust all parameters. Not good for a motor guy, but for Roush,.... it keeps from a THINK,.,., he knows motor guy from melting it down and blaming Roush.

So, if I buy a Roush engine for 44K will I still get the typical oil leak every 100 miles that most of us have had? Or does that buy better quality for some reason.

So Kevin, do you have a Roush engine price or not? If so, please post it. Also, please let me know what "it keeps what a THINK,.,., means? I am confused.

How DARE a Roush dealer (and a reputable one at that) bring this information to light!
Shame on you, Cashburn.
FUNFER2 - are you sure about the details?

This whole thread is pointless. Unbelievable.
A waste of internet space. Even worse than my irrelevant posts.

It was on ebay and did not sell. Below is the information.

"Thank you for visiting another one of Shift Bespoke Automotive's exclusive listings!"
"This Cobra is a Superformance rolling chassis ($42k) Roush drive train (43k). With only 2500 miles and over 85k invested in this car."

It is pretty easy to buy a new SPF and have $80k in it. I think I have all the costs the original buyer spent on SPF 2608 in 2007 on my Club Cobra profile.

You can buy an 800HP aluminum Cammer from Barry or Keith for $43K.
The Roush engine myth is for dopes. The street buyers are financing the Cup teams as much as the sponsors.

It's just a Pie In The Sky starting point on an SPF. Not TERRIBLY overpriced. Just overpriced (in this market, IMO). There's the engine cost, the install, the shipping cost on the decals that they want to recoup....
The car shouldn't have more than 75k invested, not 85k!?!?!?
Folks who want back 'what they have in' need to take off their rose colored glasses. They didn't look so good on Paul Williams, either.

Well, if the ad on eBay says it's true, then it must be true.
Of course, you can have $80K in an SPF. Tin-Man has $125,000 in his. But the fact of the matter is that Roush doesn't sell the 402IR's for $40,000+, which is the title of this erroneous thread.
However, I do believe they sell a polished 511 FE with injection that is about $40K +/-.
