recipe for disaster: you are in washington they are in new jersey, stray off the beaten path, a nice internet site does not an engine builder make.
read madmaxx post above and search this forum, there are closer reliable engine builders to be had.

I fear for you. Look at the background, messy shop, unprofessional presentation, not even an engine dyno. If you dont know Keith Craft or Blykins visit their website. If you are still uncomfortable find a new hobby or get a Ford Racing 427 crate engine, not as good as KC or Brett but better than the rest.

Review The Engine Factory site. Both the description and the photo look very similar.

Engine builders are always taking a bad rap from somebody... and they seem to be a temperamental lot to boot. You might post your questioin over on the FE forum as well (yes, I know you probably don't want an FE, but they all do get around there). I remembered this thread off the top of my head: 332-428 Ford FE Engine Forum: Another post about the 427/428 engines from Proformance Unlimited...

Thanks for the feedback all.
madmaxx no need to fear for me. I'm still educating myself and obviously early in the process.
Patrick thanks for sharing.

Now, like I said, every engine builder gets knocked around a bit. Remember, most of us only deal with our engine builder one single, discrete time, like buying a Persian rug by the side of the road. If you happen to catch a bad break, your engine builder becomes the "worst incompetent crook in the world." On the other hand, if you get a strong, well built engine then your engine builder is "God's Gift to Engine Building." I have friends on this forum that bash my engine builder (I think he did a really good job; not perfect, but really good), and, likewise, I hear bashing on Keith, Barry, and Lykins as well -- and they're all up there at the top, IMO. You just can't build a lot of engines without pissing people off from time to time. Or getting fed up, for that matter -- look at Keith, he seems like he his ready to just throw the towel in because he's sick of the jerks that he has to deal with. Take it all with a grain of salt.

I have the 351-420hp motor from them and it seems to be a great motor. Stays cool, idles well and makes plenty of power to boot!

Compare the parts/pieces they use and price to other builders.......
A set of aluminum heads: what make??? are they Eldebrocks/Brodix or the chinese made patriot heads?????
an aluminum intake manifold: what make/type???? Same question as above?????
custom ground cam with muscle car chop??? WFT is that??? no cam specs!!!!!!!!
I'm not too impressed with the description of the parts they use, I would certainly want toknow exactly what type cylinders heads/intake/carb/cam and a lot of other things about the engine before I ordered one...
Just my .02 cents....
Just did a quick search and found a well known builder offering a similar engine, his makes 30hp more, uses Brodix or AFR heads,Ford Motorsports timing chain set-up and camshaft and hydraulic roller lifters, forged crank/H-beams rods,Edlebrock intake and top-of-the-line QuickFuel carb, basically all name brand top shelf parts, including break-in and dyno tune and it's $900.00 MORE....or you can have no-name heads/intake/cam/carb,cast crank and who knows what else internal parts and save 900 bucks (about 12% of the cost), choice is yours, I know which one I would choose.....

Keith Craft Racing
Highly recommend the 408w that Keith puts together. Here is a snapshot
One of the most popular small block builds in this neck of the woods.

You should just pick an engine builder from this site, then the support for the engine when problems may arise, it will be easy to discuss with builder, plus by supporting them, we get all the free info they have to share, so its a win win on both sides. Plus im sure there prices are preety even.

+1, when you consider the parts used, prices are actually better.....
for instance,I did a quick check with JEGS/SUMMIT....
for a 347 stroker:
Eagle cast crankshaft-----about $205.00
Eagle forged crankshaft----about $650.00
Eagle forged H beam rods---about 400 bucks
I beam rods---------about 200 bucks
Patriot aluminum heads------895.00
AFR aluminum heads---------1500.00
I'm seeing about 1200 bucks difference in parts price alone on 3 parts and the above quoted engine was 900 bucks more with all forged components!!!!!!!!!!

$13K for a 427W!?!
Call Mike Forte ( Forte's Parts Connection - TREMEC, FACTORY FIVE COBRA PARTS, FORD RACING PARTS, FFR, MUSTANG, TRANSMISSIONS, T-56, T-5, TKO, TR-3550) for a Ford Racing 427W for a lot less than that.
Or, for someone much closer to you, call Brian at AD Performance, located in Redmond,WA ( AD Performance, Your Source for Longblock Performance Parts)
