I like to keep a thread like this going because the "Ford Only In A COBRA" crowd see it and it makes their heads explode ! If you don't have an original COBRA or I guess a continuation CSX 4000's or a genuine new AC, oh if you have a new AC you already have a genuine AC COBRA with a Chevy in it. But if you are a Chevy guy, maybe a MOPAR guy or just a HotRod guy why not put a Chevy in your HotRod that is shaped like a COBRA.

You can add CSX 4000's to the chevy list, they come as rollers with customer choice of engine and transmission. Yes, keep this thread alive, the ford snobbery gang needs a little thorn in the ass

The engine was a stock C5 LS1 crate that we bolted a MP112 to with a Voodoo blower cam Kit which makes it lope like a cobra should. We kept the rev limit down for longevity of the engine. It is pushing around 4psi of boost and puts out about 355kw at the rear wheels. The reason I say 'about' was due to the car wheel spinning on the dyno.
I'm sure we could drag a fair amount more out of it, but after driving the beast I feel there is no need at this point.

Plenty of power, us yanks think in terms of HP so you have 476 RWHP minimum, more than enough to dust most challengers. I say "most" because your only real threat is probably someone who has posted their beast here. If someday you see Paintwerks sneaking up on your ass, be afraid ... very afraid lol.

Yes Thor I did see your posts earlier about AC and GM and looked into the intel slightly. You probably keep an ear to the ground better than I.
I think I'm an all car guy not just a Ford, that being said I would hate to see an original Cobra with anything other than what was installed. Not speaking on a 260 to 289 upgrade. Hell if there was a Cobra built by SA in the 60's with a volkswagan engine and a dune buggy motive all the power to them.
As far as kits/replicas/ERA/ SP/Kirkham/ place name here/ continuation I really could care less what is under the hood. In fact many have a clean look including some in this thread. If YOU enjoy it...that is all that matters.
Head exploding........3,2,1 .....
Hey how about calling your car a CHOBRA......

A little go-kart action, you can tell he's starting to get addicted to the power.

Just ran across this, XCS Fusion Cobra replica with LS3 V8 supercharged. The car makes 639 HP and tips the scales at 2376 lbs. Not cheap, but for me - an incredible example of what a cobra replica can be.

Love this thread.
The "correct" engine for a Cobra is the one that makes you happy.

Yep, I even took it a step further elsewhere (but no one cares lol) - it's like making your own ice cream, ingredients ...
- motor
- transmission
- rear end
- wheels
- body
- cockpit
- chassis
- suspension
Take different brands of each, mix 'em up, turn the crank and whallah! - your special flavor of cobra with the right amount of ...
- 1/4 mile performance
- road course handling
- authenticity to an original
- parking lot eye candy
... for you and nobody else
My cobra flavor ...
- road course demon - 70pts
- parking lot eye candy - 30pts*
*very unique paint, in concept stage
The other two not so much, different "strokes" for different folks
