I think the pool is a little full right now, and too yellow.

In what respect are you speaking of misconceptions? Can you rebuild two cars from the ground up in 60 days like the gas monkey guys...highly unlikely. If you did the sorting out time is going to be 3 times as long at least. Can you call up and order every part you need to build a cobra from Factory Five and get it done in sixty days...most likely. Hell all the car manufacturers build them in a matter of hours.

In most cases it takes a few years to build any car. Family time, work and just plain out of money and I don't feel like fkn with tonight take priority. I have done every ounce of work on my cobra. From laying fiberglass to fabricating my own rear suspension and belt drive distributor. Its been six years of total agony and total bliss all wrapped into one.

Don't know if that answers yours or your wifes question....but there you go....lol.

things like ...

- using a cold air intake requires a tune-up or computer adjustment
- slowing down the flow of antifreeze through the radiator for heat dissipation is better for engine cooling
- if 91 octane runs fine in your motor, a bump to 95 will make it run even better

surely the engine and car builders have learned something along the way that made them say wtf? stuff not expected and "learned" to pass along to the weekend garage mechanic

how about selecting the proper carburetor size to maximize engine performance between throttle response and peak power, oh yeah that's a good one!

Power steering and power brakes are not needed in a Cobra.
That should gut it started

Here's a couple

1) You should never use a high volume oil pump in a SBF

and

2) It's perfectly fine to use a high volume oil pump in a SBF

Well, the first one is a myth, the second one is dead on.

I've put HV pumps in everything I've built, both SBF, FE, and BBF for years.

For crate motor builds of same displacement, compression ratio, quality of internal components and tuning - fords make more power than chevys.

Dollar for dollar, crate motor builds of same displacement, compression ratio, quality of internal components and tuning - Chevys make more power than Fords.

Now I will get the popcorn and kick up my feet.
