I am not 100% positive about this, but I believe from what my book shows that is a 1962 block.

And the date code on the block?

That will tell the real tale.

The C2OE-6015-J denotes a 260 c.i.
The C2OE-6015-G denotes a 221 c.i.

Early engines had assembly date code stamped in two locations. The first place was on the front of the block just beneath the distributor. Another location was about 3" away, along the side of the block near the cylinder head. from Bob Mannel " Mustang and Ford small Block V8 1962-1969. Volumes 1&2. Reply with the numbers that you find and I will help you decipher them.

No plans the engine is in my 62 Mercury that I found in a barn 6 months ago all original thought it had one of the first run 260 in it so I to start digging. Nice to share my block info so other builders can scope where some of these gems still are. Be nice to see what the early J blocks go for..Great site
