Here is a thread on our CC forum regarding tuning webers...you've probably already seen it, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

Weber Tuning - Club Cobra

I'll keep looking for the CD on the GT40s forum, will post on the induction forum at GT40s asking about it.

Cheers!

That would be great to get a copy of the CD. The resolution on YT isn't great plus I could refer to it without having to go through YT when I want a reference.

I should have read the post on GT40s...the YouTube video is in 3 parts, and it is the complete contents of that CD.

I'll ask on GT40s if it's possible to get a CD. If not, perhaps breaking the CD down into three tutorials would help.

Cheers!

Here's the primary source...DUUUUH, I REALLY should have read the info on the posting on GT40s...DUM-DUGLY!

"The company that produced the video, Fast Freddy's, is still in business despite reports to the contrary. Mike got permission from Freddy to allow us to post it on Youtube, sent me his DVD, and I was able to upload it to YouTube."

...no idea who "Mike" is...

Hope this helps.

Dugly

Some good info on that 3 part video, have seen it before.

I would like to see some more on idle jet selection (air bleed orifice, and fuel), emulsion tube selection etc.

Jim Inglese is your guy, then...perhaps he will know of other publications that will have that detailed info. As I read the first part of the 3-part series it seemed to me that the Webers might be simple to work on and the combinations of various parts helps with fine tuning. Sounds like a set of flow-meters is probably in your future if you want to do your own builds.

Good luck...

Cheers!!!

Dugly.

They are extremely easy to work on.

An 8 year old would have no trouble, but give him a WCFB or a Quadrajet, and there may be some tears.

The art for Webers is parts selection to suit the engine.

Idle fuel and air is easy, but emulsion tube is bit more tricky.

Hence the absolute critical importance of float level settings.

PS. My Weber, Holley, Carter, Edelbrock, Rochester etc etc library and spares/tools etc is always growing, .

Default Weber carb and engine rebuild

Doing a complete rebuild on csx4xxx aluminum Shelby 427 with 48ida Weber’s.

Had the carbs sent to Jim Inglese ( he amazing). They look great!!!

First problem before rebuilding
1) was fuel pressure way to high 5-8
2) had manual fuel pumps and electric ( that’s how it came from Shelby dealer)
3) custom cylinders and new cam should improve power range.
4) was bogging around town or after resetting bogging over 60.... than should go away now.

I’ll update went I finish up in the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Went for a drive this afternoon to breaking in engine/ carbs/ brakes.

This engine is so smooth now....what an improvement!!!

Went with a new fuel regulator and keeping pressure around 2.5 to 3.0 much better no bogging. Not using manual fuel pump and just going with electric ( disconnected “ reserve” pump too).

More later

Thanks,

Hello Peter
Check if your Webers have 3 drillings. Mine ran much better afterwards in daily traffic (0 - 3';000 min-1).
If possible mount two Lamda sensors, then you can see what your mixture is doing.
Good luck and much patience

Default My next mod

I wrote a couple emails to Jim Inglese yesterday requesting hyd roller cam advice and 48IDA + manifold vertical dimensions. My current 408W setup is a solid roller cam and too radical for decent country backroad driving. The trailer hitching on mountain switchbacks is annoying.
I've always wanted a set of downdrafts and I'm scrapping bottom finding things to do on the car.

So next will be new cam, valve springs, lifters, rods, chain. Once running again I'll dive into the Webers.

Good luck, will be interested to hear what you decide on. Weber's can be touchy on the road, going with a less aggressive cam may help. In a race application they work great, but then again I am never below 4,000 rpms except when going through the paddock to and from the grid.

After searching the GT40 forums I came across info on the Inglese cams that Comp Cams makes. (same family of companies now). This 2012 catalog lists them and quite a few Weber accessories. All still available but not listed in the 2014-2020 catalogs.
I think Jim Inglese got all the Webers sales back it seems.

I'll probably go with the 35-491-8 hotter of the two offered in the 5.0 firing order. Still sold thru Jegs etc... Still need to pull my cam and get the PN to see if I will have clearance. (My PN is unk to me and no cam card).

I would hope those cams are listed as lift at the lobe, not "valve lift" as quoted.

LOL, yea those would suck for sure. I 'd be better off with an RV cam.

With my 1.6 rollers I'll be at .571 and .565 at the valve.
