Hemi Heads for SBF
Specs: - Bolts on to any 289/302/351w and 351c engine blocks
- Accepts any existing Windsor style intake manifold
- Comes with 2.200/1.650 Competition Series Stainless Steel valves
- Sets up to 2.050 Installed Height (will accommodate big lift cams)
- Has 62cc combustion chamber
- Uses a Jesel 1.7 ratio shaft mounted rocker system
- Has a Yates C3 exhaust bolt pattern (remote chance of existing C3 headers working)
- Has accessory bolt holes for use with factory Ford accessories
- Uses FelPro 1262R intake gaskets or similar
- Uses FelPro 1433 header gaskets or similar
- Comes with cast aluminum Hemi style valve covers
- Uses Flatout valve cover gaskets
- Has .700 thick deck for power adder applications
- Has raised intake ports for more direct flow to the valve
- Flow numbers are 392/intake and 275/exhaust as cast
- Will require distributor extension

It's worth noting the valve covers in the 1st photo are fabricated, the ones in the package are cast, like these:
Like that will be a factor in anyone's decision!
This would be impressive under the hood, especially with a set of Weber carbs or 8-stack EFI. Eye candy. Engine porn.
Or perhaps the side draft setup: V8 Kit, Ford 351W Cross Ram, 60mm Air Horn Kit - Part 200064

The flow numbers look good, but you have to have enough displacement to use it. Ford's 427 FE wedge was able to hang with Chrysler's 426 Hemi back in the day, even though the Hemi had the advantage. If they would have increased the displacement to 500 CI under the same heads, the Hemi would have spanked the wedge.
That said I just do not see these heads doing much for a good 289, if at all. Even a 347 with good heads would gain very little, unless you reved it to the moon. I do think a Monster Windsor at 462 cid would make some serious power, if the bottom end is built to take some rpms.
I was surprised the exhaust valve was as small as it is, and the intake could have been bigger if they had wanted. Aren't these about the same size as a 4V Cleveland?

I saw a set of these a few years ago at a Roadster show that were made for SBC. About the same money, but no matter how I phrased the question, nobody wanted to talk about hp gains and other technical questions like cooling efficiency, intake fitment, gaskets, etc....
I would hope for that money you could get huge hp gains from them. The flow measurements surely seem to be looking that way if you have enough cubes to take advantage of it.
Of course, guys spend a lot more money than this to make things look cool with no thought to hp gains, so why not this? Stacks come to mind...

Not sure who makes these heads but Nick Arias has had a sbf hemi head out for quite some time, can also buy them for various hp, all depends on how deep your pocketbook is. Spoke to Nick several years ago at the PRI show about his heads and was very impressed at the heads. My racing partner used to race boats against Nick Sr years ago. They know how to make good HP!

The valve sizes bugged me, so I looked up the Cleveland 4V heads. They are 2.19"/1.71" and the Chrysler Hemi Heads from the 1960's are 2.25"/1.94".
Also at first glance I realized these are not a true Hemi head. However when I looked more closely these are far from a Hemi head. I'm not sure they are deep enough to require a domed piston. They quoted a chamber CC that sounds like you could use a flat top piston.
Now that said, the Hemi head design has its problems. So maybe they solved a lot of problems with this design. However I'm not sure they will outperform a set of CHI heads.

These heads look almost identical to Kasse Boss 429 heads in the combustion chamber.
Probably didn't hurt that Greg Brown who makes them used to work for Jon Kasse

Poor FE, like a red headed step child. A nice wedge with the intake valve moved toward the center of the chamber would be nice. Nothing out there for us, we have to struggle on with milk truck design heads.
