I believe the part numbers you are looking for are c4az-10373-a and c4az-10377-a. I bought mine from ebay. Looks like there are some available there now actually.

Alf,
Here's another possibility: Alternators

If you know which diode(s) are bad, they can be replaced. If there is an old starter alternator repair shop around you they will probably have diodes. I replaced a single diode in our black car's alternator decades ago.

N to + are defect
I was today on a shop specialized on old cars electric.
He mentioned to me they can not be replaced one by one...
If yes it would be great. If not I‘ll search for the complet part.
The only option I‘ve at the moment is a new alternator for many $ as there are no spare parts abailable.
;(
If the numbers on the post from Andrew are correct I‘ll search for them.

Let me look in the bin, I may have a good used plate.

The plates listed Feb 2, 1964 printing had C3SZ prefixes for + and - plates. The Aug 1, 1966 printing shows the C4AZ prefix numbers as service parts.
The C4AZ models are not all that uncommon on ebay®.
Diodes are not hard to replace but the 1964 Ford manuals is great to show and tell how.

A little advise, be very careful with those brushes when you reassemble the alternator. They break easily if you don't retract them during assembly. Ask me how I know this!

Ford didn't start using 2G alternators until 1982. Those at the link appear to be variants of 1G alternators.

My Manual is somewhere between Los Angeles and Switzerland
For me the challenge will be to get the correct parts from the states as here in Switzerland they know about Porsche and VW and if you’re lucky Ford Mustangs.

You are correct, I mis-typed. However the new AMK units are really a "1G MK II" alternator as most parts will not interchange with the 63/64 round case, plug in type unit.
I do have new brushes for the early 1G if needed.

Hi Mark
I assume, as you mentioned the brushes, you did not find some diode plates in the bin?

Yes, those are the brushes I have. And I do have some used diode plates but I will need to have them checked at the alternator shop. You already have a bad one, you don't need to pay to ship another bad one!

When reassembling the back case do not forget the two mounting spacers that go on the mounting studs prior to assembly. Also there is a hole on the rear portion of the case to slip a pin into to hold the brushes away from the armature, pull the pin out after reassembly.
