If you want to build a serious 302, 351 W or C this new Dart Block is superior to the SVO stuff. Have a look.

Great looking blocks! Probably their most impressive aspect is being able to run such large bore sizing. Cubic inches through bore sizing rather than massive crankshaft stroke is the key to building a nice racing engine.

Other than the bore size, there doesn't seem to be anything else that makes me wish that I'd waited for the Dart block though... In supercharged applications, the SVO blocks have proven to be indestructible.

Anyway, ignore me - I'm just trying to justify my $1500+ expenditure in a chunk of cast iron

Are you building one of the Dart block based motors? Or have you completed one?
Alum or steel?
I chose RDI 's alum "Z" block for my 427.
I would love to compare notes with you.
Mine made 510hp and 528lb/ft at 5800 rpm.

If the SVO blocks are good enough for Nascar, they are good enough for most of us. Got talked into the Dart by super saleman.

Building the iron block. Still waiting on standard bore 12-1 pistons. May have to change plans and go for large bore as Craig suggested.
