Explain Your User Name
Just like vanity plates, it would be interesting to know how you came up with your user name. As for me, I had to do a lot of metal gymnastics to come up with mine. For sure, it had to be unique to what defines me. Scarry thought and tough job. Anyway, here is how I came up with speed220mph:
In high school I was given the nickname "Speed", which is what many of the local law-enforcement types wrote on a little slip of paper they handed me through the driver's side window. That is the first part of my name. The balance of my user name is the top speed I reached at the Bonneville Salt Flats on my way to a C/Production record, which got me in the 200MPH Club at a speed of 217.849 mph in 1981.
Let's hear how you came up with your user name.

IT WAS MY AIR FORCE "CALL SIGN".
IT CARRIED OVER INTO MY RACING DAYS - CAR NUMBER 21.
I WANTED NUMBER 24 BECAUSE IT WAS MY OLD FOOTBALL JERSEY NUMBER BUT IT WAS ALREADY TAKEN; SETTLED FOR MY SECOND CHOICE AND THE "CALL SIGN" SEEMED TO FOLLOW ME.
ALSO MY NAME IS "JACK" AND I'M ORIGINALLY FROM PITTSBURGH.
Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,
BLACKJACK

Blackjack, You did what I wanted to do, but the doc said you're colorblind. You can ride in the back seat, though! No way. If I can't drive it, I ain't gett'n in it, 'specially if they's gonna shoot at me.
Pittsburgh! I got my private ticket and flew out of Green County Airport, Waynesburg, PA. Steelers, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Green . . . the Iron Curtain. Small World.

Tom - I'm just a boring unimaginative Brit, so I never even thought of using anything other than my real name. Sorry.
BTW - visited a friend yesterday to view progress on his 302 rebuild. All he knows about that engine is straight out of your book. And he's doing fine - thanks a lot, where would we be without it?

"Pez" was the first thing that came to my mind when making an account on a BBS many, many years ago.
I used Satan as a password for that account, no idea why. (Heck, I still do, but I bet noone here will find that BBS)
I then made an account somewhere else and "Pez" was too short, I put together the two and it's what stuck.
Sounds like a horrible handle/user name but I'm so used to typing it.

Like Bill Wells, I got my user name back in 1955 from Ralph & Mildred (dad & mom).... Back in January of 99 when this club was just a baby and I was about the 10th to 12th member to log on everybody used their real name,so I just followed suit. Never thought it would get this good or this big....
Do have a few nicknames though, Crawfish is my CB handle, being from Louisiana and kinda backwards I guess, someone,I think, my brother-in-law gave me that name years ago, also called Cracky around the hunting and fishing camp, have no clue who gave me that one or why,but it has stuck and I guess it is o-k cause I have been called a lot worse....

Avanti... The car I had wanted since my father took me to a car
show in his lark and was parked next to a beautiful white
Avanti when I was about 5 or six in the early 70's.
176... Someone was already registered under the user name
Avanti so the 176 is the mph that Studebaker got their
stock little supercharged 289ci funny looking car to do on
salt flats way back in 1963 which took the big three almost
30 years to top with the zr-1 and viper. And convienently
all of the vette, viper, camaro, mustang and any of the other muscle
car enthusiasts out there refuse to aknowledge that it ever
happened.
Sorry for the rant but I am just sick of trying to explain that to everyone that makes me stay an extra 10 min's at every gas station I pull into and then they just roll their eyes and say..
YEAH RIGHT!
Everyone have a good day!
Dan
