D is for Donna (my wife)
M is for Mike (me)
2 is for when the server crashed a while back and I could not log on with the original D&M. Even though I could now use the original, I've never bothered.

SSCOBRA, Shelby and Shannen, the names of our granddaughters (guess who Shelby was named after). Cobra because in the 60's we were on Hal Keck's race team CSX3008, #88.

I flew F-4 Phantoms for TEN years. Too long, but the F-4 was nicknamed Double Ugly. It actually scared some Mig drivers in Viet Nam so much that if an F-4 was behind them they would eject.

The very first kit that caught my eye and thrusted me towards this insane hobby was E.R.A. USRRC 289FIA Cobra. I thought for sure this was the body style I was going to build.

I've actually contemplated on giving this one up but it's been with me since probably 2000.

Dangerous Doug was my childhood nickname. Had something to do with the stuff I did on my bicycle and skateboard when I was a kid. I still skateboard, though I'm not nearly as dangerous as I used to be---and, I wear a helmet.

I have been a whitewater kayaker for 30 years. Biggest accomplishment on my "paddlers resume" is 225 miles down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Two weeks of the biggest water I've ever seen.

Its curious that fast cars and whitewater are both adrenaline sports, but I don't think I've met another kayaker who knows anything about cars. Or a car guy who know about whitewater. One of lifes mysterys.

If you enjoy hard rock-n-roll and you like the Canadian group Rush, well then mine is easy to understand. "Red Barchetta" was a song they produced back in '81 about "an old machine" ("a brilliant Red Barchetta from a better, vanished time") that a tired uncle had preserved down in his barn "for fifty odd years." The story takes place in the future when driving has been outlawed. His nephew sneaks out to the countryside on Sundays and drives the snot out of the car, gets chased by some police toward the end, and comes up with a clever escape plan.

When I first heard the song, I immediately thought of a red Shelby Cobra and it was the inspiration for what I drive today. Funny how one song can change your life, huh?

Unhappy Prison nickname

jdog is my prison nickname.

It was given to me by the inmates at Folsom Prison, & was the only place I have ever used it, until I registered for CC.

Kinda indicates the crowd I thought I'd find here!

jdog
P.S. In prison, nicknames are given to you by the inmates, either out of fear or respect. And usually a generous helping of both. jdog is based on my first initial "J", & an 'incident' that happened way back-in-the-day! Thank God you don't have to earn them twice, I'm much to old & slow now, my name would be "deaddog"!

Default Interesting Thread.

In 1967/68 I was in Scout / Snipers for the Marine Corps in Vietnam, and my nickname was "BURNED" (taken from my real name; Bernd). Stuck with me over the years.

Trust me: I knew "Double Ugly" without an introduction.

Bernie

Call sign from 1st Vietnam tour flying helicopter gunships, '67-'68. Cobras in '68. Also know Double Ugly very well-helped each other get out of more than one bad time. Love the plane and you guys who flew them.

I was trying to figure out a tag for my license plate. I had a list of 20 or so and narrowed it down to 2. MaSnaka was my 2nd choice. COBRA IZ was number 1. Thanks to all for making this a great site!!
