Default Opinions on some small blocks please..

Alright guys, I have not completley ruled out the aluminum block, but I'd like some more input on the 351W.

Southern Automotive has several 351W engines avalible.
396W/455HP $6,900.
426W/495HP $7,500.
Pros:
SA is about 30 minutes from my house so they would do the install on the engine and tranny. I've been there twice and they are super nice folks with an outstanding reputation. They will service the engine free of charge(tune/adjustment/fluids/ect) if the buyer supplys the parts. They also sell transmissions.

Roush Performance
402W/525HP $9,500.
Pros: Ford performance Gurus.
Cons: Shipping cost, I will have to install and service.

The Engine Factory
408W/495HP $8,675. www.fordcobraengines.com/Cobra396_485_carb.html

418W/535HP $8,695 This puppy has a Forged Crank.

Pros: Free shipping
Cons: I don't know anything about The Engine Factory, I will have to install and service.

Well which one would you get and why? If none of the above, why? What would you get instead?

Thanks, Jim

If I were you I would lean towards Southern. They have a stellar rep on this forum and they are close. But, I would get a custom build of what I wanted and not just one of their ad packages. If it really doesn't matter get one of the packages, you can't beat that service deal. Come to think of it, I was going to say check the prices of other builders with stellar reps, but that service deal makes Southern the hands down winner.

Hi Fast Guy!! Give some serious thought to the Southern Automotive 396 stroker. 250 less pounds in the front of the car, great torque and revs.

Southern is right in our back yard and always striving to do it right the first time!!

You can get a firsthand look at Chills and Randy's cars and follow the progress.

Living here and having them this close is just a marrage made in Heaven for your Kirkham!

Good luck! John
