thanx guys youve definatly given me some thing to think about, the edelbrock package that you suggest Jim sounds very tempting, but then again going the extra for a stroker also does!!

One question though Jim you mentioned that if I did go the stroker route I would have
'to clearance the block to prevent the rods/rod bolts from hitting.'

excuse my ignorance but what does that mean in layman terms?

Also 'possibly line bore the mains' ??

Ben,

For a stroker, you have to do a little grinding on the block to make room for the rod bolts. This is called clearancing the block.

...your engine sounds like the best deal yet! Who did it---with a warranty yet? I'm working with a Cleveland and therefore may have much more limited access to speed-parts. Would like to find out about your builder. Sounds like Parham, but I don't know about the warranty. Any info on above is appreciated.

Ben,
Your machine shop would, in a nutshell, bolt your main caps on and run a 4' long boring rod through them to assure that they are all perfectly in line with another, thus preventing any uneven loads on the crank. At least that's the way I understand it. I'll tell ya, after seeing some of the numbers that guys get from straight 351W's, I think I'd take the extra cash you'd have to put into a stroker and add for a roller cam or some other goodies. Of course, not going the stroker route just leaves a little of that cash in your pocket for some other upgrades, like better brakes. If you giver' more GO, she'll need more WHOA!

Fred,

The engine was built by Don Scott of Minnesota Classic Motorsports. He and DV are the guys who provide Classic Roadsters tech support on this forum.
