blower
I was wondering if its possible to build a blown stroked 351w engine that can run on 92 octane pump gas, and if i can't do it with 92 octane where can I get higher octane for cheap? Also, what compression ratios, blower size, boost levels, etc. would i need to use? What would be a good stroke for a blown engine (408,418,...?) Im looking for maximum hp without having to buy expensive racing gas.
Thanks
Mike

351?
Mike get a lightening wreaked and put the motor in your cobra. Build a 392 or 408 9.0 compression aluminium heads 10 lbs of boost. 1/2" fuel system and 2 pumps. Watch the timing, don't go too lean and you have 600 hp This aabout all a cobra will handle and still be driviable on the street and 92 gas. Your are better to build a torque motor with 600 ft lbs. It is easier and more fun to drive. Rick Lake

My plan is to put it in my 65 mustang with a chassis strengthen kit. I couldnt find a lightening wreaked? Where can I go look at them. I saw a 65 with a blown 302 and he had 7.5:1????

I agree, the trick to keeping the octane requirement low is the compression. I have one friend with an 02 gt mustang running 9 lbs of boost thru a saleen blower on a stock bottom end, he's having no problems. I have another friend running an 03 cobra (8.5:1) with about 30 lbs of boost, and he's still running it on pump gas. we've got 93 octane out here in MD, which is good enough for most of the gearheads around here, but if not, the shop I work at sells C16.

Just remember, the distributor is in front.
Just some added fun in this installation.

I have had a 351w with a 6-71 dyers blower for almost 6 years now. I have lots of experience with 6-71 Blowers on windsors. I'm assuming you mean a blower not a small paxton or something.
I ran 8.3:1 compression with 10lbs boots with 11%OD never had a problem on 93octane gas. With just a summit RV cam I was pushing 550hp. The problem with blowers is not octane, infact I never once had a problem with octane and I used to run the crap out of this thing. The problem is with heat. Every stop light you come too you can see the temp rise and rise. I have spoke to techs, other people with blowers, and its all the same. Major heat problems. There is a reason you dont see many blown cars, they just arent practical. One guy had a 5 row aluminum rad, same problem. Anouther problem are heads. If your heads can flow enough, it will keep more heat inside the motor. A 408,426,ect,ect without a blower is going to need some kick butt heads, adding a blower is really adding to an already existing problem. Don't get me wrong you can stroke and blow, but you will have other sacrifies.
Hope this helps a little.
