Thumbs up 351w roller cam conversion

Hi Guys,

I have a 72/73 351w block that I would like to convert to use a roller cam and lifters.
I have seen the ford part FMS-M-6253-A50 on www.summitracing.com but it looks like it is no good for my block.
Will it work or is there something else I can do?

cheers

Ben

Yeah, that one will work....Comp Cams makes one too....I think it's the one that I bought for about the same price.

You'll have to drill and tap a couple holes in the lifter galley for this to work....but it should only take about a half hour...

There are two ways of doing it:

1) Cheaper way - use the FMS kit you mentioned, which will require you drill & tap holes for the spider bolts, and use a small base circle cam. The small base circle cam is required because the lifter bosses in your block are too short to hold the roller lifters if you use a regular base circle cam.

2) Use lock bar lifters like the ones from Crane: Crane Lock Bar Lifters , and a regular base circle cam.
