Default Dyno sim program

Can someone with a engine dyno program see how much hp and tq. I will make.
351w, Edelbrock rpm heads(2.02, 1.6), Edelbrock rpm intake. Holley 750 dp, with 9.7cr. Crane cam 542 lift intake, 563 exhaust with 224 and 232 duration at .050 and hydraulic rollers. Not sure if that will be enough info. If not, tell me what else you would need to know.

Thanks in advance

V-8 - Maybe you forgot to figure in your NOS. Were you off 200 hp?

V-8 I found the link to it on this site and downloaded it from there.

Cracker, don't make fun of my NOS, I've never cracked the bottle except to dyno it, don't make me do it now, unless you want a nice look at me from the rear!

Spooney - unless your a broad I'll pass on the view from the rear!

Seriously though, regarding the NOS I have been led to believe they are somewhat useless in Cobra's. The reason being that traction is compromised in 1st & 2nd and even maybe 3rd on the bottle. Why don't you give it a try sometime (real world) and let me know if you experience is different. Also, how close were the HP gains on the dyno vs. the calibrated shot (ie. 75/100/200 hp) of NOS? Thanks!

Cracker...I'm trying to work up the nerve to crack the bottle this spring, the installer triggered it at 3500rpm in third gear to test it. According to him the car just took off. His shop does a lot of street and drag cars and he said it was the fastest street car he has even been in. I did change my wheels and tires to 17's, and that has helped traction a lot. But I'll let you know how it feels first hand in a couple weeks.

And what's wrong with my rear??

I forgot the dyno info.
a 250 shot added 219
so without its 552 and w/NOS its 771

I need to change my signature don't I? Nah....802 sounds better!

771=802
is that the new math I hear so much about?

Mr. Fixit

I believe your thinking of something else - these #'s are too close to reality.

V8,

The desktop dyno is the program most of us use and I have ran it and checked the figures against 6 engines of different makes which have been dynoed on a real dyno and the most it was ever off in horsepower was 9 more than the actual and the torque was lower than the actual.

Their website is;

So can anyone run the program that has it and tell what numbers it spits out?

Ron61 - If you have access to this program run mine if you will. I've had mine engine dynoed and would be interested in knowing what the software suggests I should have.

Engine specs:
427 ci
.591 solid lifter cam
roller rockers
.55 & .60 duration @ .50 lift
victor intake
825 mechanical secondary carb
11:1 compression ratio
edelbrock heads 70cc chambers if needed
2.19 in & 1.73 ex valves
3.781 stroke
electronic ignition
port matched heads & intake

Need anything else?

Thanks to you or someone else who can run this!

Cracker,

I would be happy to run yours and the other but I need a little more information. Do you have a stock 427 bore? You just gave the stroke. Is your intake a dual plane or single plane? Also can you get the real seat to seat specs of the cam? My program has a math calculator to try and convert the 50% settings to this but since nearly every cam builder uses different ways of doing this it really isn't very accurate. When I did the software run on my stroker and tried the 50% settings it gave me I was clear out of the ballpark. fortunately the engine builder included the cam spec tag and it had the IVO, EVO, IVC, and EVC settings on it. Also need the Int. Center line and Lobe center line angle. I have an older program and I think the new one is closer on the 50% conversion, but still can't be exact as the cam makers haven't really reached a set standard yet but are working toward one I heard. Afyer playing with some of the listed cams in the program that were a close match to what mine should be, I was 6 horsepower over what it actually was and about 20 pounds low on torque. this is an inherant problem with my program as it reads torque low on all engines. And remember, these programs are just tools to give you some idea of what you can expect by trying different things so you don't have to spend money trying them first. When used as a guide they are great. I believe it was the great ASP that I sent my program to for him to try and he was just 5 horsepower off.

Ron

Thanks Ron! Here is what I've been able to dig up.

Bore is 4.240
Rocker Arm ratio = 1.76

Single plane Victor Intake

Cam info: Lobe Center = 108 degress

Intake:
Gross Lift .579
Advertised Duration 300 degress
Duration @ .050 = 260

Exhaust:
Gross Lift .593
Advertised Duration 310 degress
Duration @ .050 = 255
