Default 351 mexican block

I know that Ford made a 302 mexican block that was pretty close to the boss block, or at least it had thicker webber and thicker 2 bolt mains. But there is a guy on e-bay selling 351 blocks as the "mexican" block. He is claiming that the webbing is stronger and thicker much like the boss 302 blocks were. I know Ford made some 351 blocks in mexico but I thought they were just the normal castings. He makes a reference about it being like a sportsman block. Anyone ever heard of a stronger mexican block for the 351w?

I question his "find"....I believe these are the 71-74 low compression 351W blocks.....

Dear Brainsboy,

I read in a Ford cross reference magazine that the "mexican" blocks were superior in the fact that they had a higher nickel content due to the geology that it was mined from.

I agree with Mr. Mustang. I've owned several '69- '70 351W blocks and it looks no different. Actually, I'm not sure it is as good, the early blocks I had were cast for 4bolt mains, you could see it in the block castings. I suppose they intended to make a 4 bolt block and never did or they could have used the Boss 302 bottom molds. While I'm more than aware of the Mexican 302 blocks (which were more like the Hi-Po 289,not the Boss 302) this is the first I've heard of these "rare" blocks. I guess that does make them rare. Just because they are made in mexico doesn't certify they are heavier, not all the 302 blocks from there were.
