Default Need help on this one

Hi.
I have a chevy engine including the heads and am at a loss as to the year of manufacture.
The block on your drivers side near the bell housing has (3GM) and underneath are the numbers (3970010) on the passenger’s side is the number (235),
The heads under the rocker cover driver’s side looks like this.
01 63417869 GM11 HECHO EN
MEXICO
And on the passengers side like this.
01 82417369 GM12 HECHO EN
MEXICO.
I hope this makes sense to you. I will be most grateful for some information as I am fitting this lump into an AC Cobra soon.

Thanks David Miller. (England UK)

Does the block have two bolt or four bolt mains?

3970010 =
1. A 302ci, 1969 Z-28 Camaro (4 bolt mains)
2. A 327ci, 1969 for trucks and industrial (2 bolt mains)
3. A 350ci, from 1969 to 1980 (2 and 4 bolt main variations)

source = http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm

Can't find a reference to the head castings. :-(

That casting number is very common for a small block Chevy. The 235 number you describe is in the position of the casting date of the block.
All casting dates begin with a letter. H86 would be 08-08-1966, H is the eighth letter in the alphabet. Are you sure the first number is a 2. It would have to be an A to L for a month code.
Anything stamped on the front passenger side of the block where the water pump is attached?

Wow...I'm not sure what that means. This may have been some type of over the counter short block.
