TP,

You may be better off with the X heads, world products windsor Jr. or AFS.

Info on the GT40P heads (w/flows):

http://www.stangpro.com/html/article...les/gt40p1.htm

Here is a good flow test, need a subcription but there is a lot of great info:

http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ds/index.shtml

The nostalgia seems a little soft to me, you might look at comp cams 31-414-3, 224I/224E/110O/0.500L for a great street cam.

How is the build coming along?

The build is going well. I put the steering column & the front sway bar in yesterday. It's exciting to actually be able to sit down "behind the wheel".

As far as part selection goes I'm really kind of going for a nostalgic sounding racing exhaust with a better than stock performance. I agree that the cam specs seem a little light compared to what is out there these days & that the GT40P is not ideal in a top performance head. The reason I'm looking at the GT40P is that it is offered in a cost effective cast iron option. Again my goal is to have a "cobra sounding" car that has decent perfomance. I obviously don't want to be dissapointed by the performance of the powerplant but being that this will strictly be a street car at this point I don't feel I have to compete with any bigblock cars

TP,

Glad to hear it! Vrooom Vrooom sounds and funny looks are sure to follow.

The combo you suggested sounds good to me - you won't gain anything from more lift on the cam.

Hyde - here is thread of a similar question I asked before ERA601 came along into my life at a price I couldn't turn down.

GT40 Turbo Swirl heads vs Performer

My heart is still with your project....I will build my ultimate car some day - an FIA sb .

I think my conclusion was the GT40P's were certainly cost effective, albeit giving up some HP. I was matching to Edelbrock components - intake/carb/cam (which I still have tucked away), and the Edelbrock performers were about $150.00 more when delivery was factored in (through Summit). If you go the Gt40P's you may want to check out a supplier I was looking at called Hawaii Racing - http://www.hawaiiracing.com - I think the GT40P heads were like $850.00/pr.

Good luck!
