Default Distick fouling

I have a Chey Mowtown and Milodon Road Race Pan, the one with the kicked out sides.

My question is - The dipstick initialy hit No 4 Mains cap, but I corrected this by curving the inner tube to aim the dipstick to just miss the cap head - see attachment. Is this usual?

My dipstick now hits the baffel support member at the top as shown on the attachment - I s it just a matter of shortening the dipstick and re markink the full mark.

I really would appreciate your help out there guys if you have come accross this before.

Hope the weathers good for you - I have got my Jumper on over here
Mike.

The dipstick should show the oil level when you're at least two quarts low. I don't know where the baffle is on a Milodon, but if it's close to or above the normal oil level, you'll have to modify the pan so that the dipstick goes down into the oil more.

If the pan's off, fill the pan with normal oil capacity minus two quarts to check the baffle position. Afterward, you can even add another two quarts to actually get a height measurement that you can use to mark your dipstick.
