Default Oil Cooler hoses and fittings

Original competition 289 and 427 cobras had black oil cooler hoses and fittings that were polished stainless or aluminum or something like that.

Was the black hose used simply rubber "heater hose" or was it something else. If it is a specialied hose, could someone direct me to a source of something close to it. I prefer not to use the stainless braided hose to keep the more original look. Also, I am trying to find a source for the fitting. I prefer not to use the red and blue anodized fittings, but it seems like that is all I can find.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike:
The hose and fittings were Aeroquipt stainless braid re-inforced
aircraft medium pressure hose and fittings. The fittings were cad plated steel. I think the hose is #303. Should be available at most
airport repair shops, or do a web search for "aircraft hose/fittings"
BTW the wire braid on these older hoses was covered with fabric reinforced rubber.

Summit or Jegs carry the AN fittings that are nickel plated. They look just like stainless.

You may also want to check with your local Parker hose and fitting supplier. They have steel fittings and several different hose options. You should be able to locate a local supplier here.

Mike, Look for a supplier in your area that makes up hydraulic hoses. They can make just what you are looking for and a lot cheaper than the race catalog co. ie Jegs, Summit. These companies use JIC fittings which are similar to AN only stronger and a lot less expensive.

What is the outside diameter of the hose used?

Check out Fittings and Adapters prices for hose and JIC fittings here:

http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/

I have bought a ton of stuff from them. Their prices are good shipping is quick and inexpensive. They are very responsive - even to small orders.

If you want to be totally 100% "real", you will buy fittings that are BSP (British Standard Pipe) which is what most of the originals used. That being said, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference visually between AN/JIC and BSP.

Default Oil oolers & Fittings

A great source for original Mocal coolers and cad or nickel plated fittings & black or silver braided hose is BAT, in Sarasota, Fl at 941 355 0005. Ask for Eric. They also import Sachs shocks.
