Default Carb spacers

At this stage I am running a 1" open alloy spacer between carb and rpm air gap.
I know most things in life when it comes to engines are "horses for courses" but I am wondering what you carbed guys are running?
Should I be using a 4 hole spacer? Phenolic 4 hole? Phenolic open?

They say the 4 hole will help 60' and bottom end, while open spacer helps on top end.

I was advised by Barry Grant tech to ditch my 1/2" open spacer and use a 1" 4 hole spacer. Picked up hp on the dyno.

Phenolic Resin will also help isolate the carb from heat transfer. I concur that the 4 hole will typically help the bottom end response, but it doesn't always help - a lot depends on the "design" of the engine.
Here's where you find out if you have heads / valves that are too big, cam with too much overlap, etc etc..

I gained 10 hp when I replaced the 4 hole with the open alloy. I have a 302 with ARF 165 heads.

Have a look here:
http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Delivery.html

Click on the image for a full size pic.

This spacer and 2-3/16 gaskets will give you a total of about 7/8" of 4 hole spacer. The Aramid fiber gaskets have superior heat insulating property's.

They are cut to Demon 650 - 750 venturi bore spec 1 11/16" for a perfect fit and no air flow disruption. Using a spacer with the wrong size holes and not centered to the venturi's is a giant step in reverse.

I'll offer them as a kit to Club Cobra Members for $65.00, we also have the correct stud kit for $7.95.
