Default keith craft crate motors

Just ordered a BDR. Has any one gone with the KC 408 crate motor. He has the 408@500hp and the 410 at 575hp. Just wondered what the performance would be like. Reliability? Would you make any changes or have any suggestions about these two motors?
Thanks

Feel free to call me any questions you might have. I can give you the name of some customers with our 408/410/418/427 351W stroker engine combos. Thanks and good luck, Keith Craft

Default I have a 408 Standard Crate

MDP727,

I have a standard 408 crate... it has a few better componets and the price differntial was not very much over the econo crate. The HP does go up a bit to 575

I am going to be installing in my car in about 3 weeks so I can give you more feedback then.

Many of the Texas Cobra Club members have KCM motors and have been very happy.

Keith it would be helpful to have a dyno sheet on the various crate motors posted on the website to give a better view of the "typical' performance.

Good luck

MDP727,

That one caught my eye too. It looks like it's got all the right parts.

Texas-Saluki,

What rear end gear ratio, and what 5th gear ratio on the TKO, did you go with, if you don't mind me asking.

Also Can you tell me what carb went on the moter?
(oops, just saw the EFI )

Brad

MDP 727

I have KCR 427 windsor, little bigger than the 408 you are looking at. Dyno sheet pictured in my gallery. Motor is just plain awesome and a beast, that about sums it up.

GOOD LUCK

Burgs,

My drivetrain specs are the 3.73 rear and the .82 for the TKO. Hope to get this bad boy on the track

yep doing the EFI thing... should be fun. Using an Electromotive system that is going to give me a lot of handles...

I find it easier to tweak a computer than adjust a carb

thanks

Chris

Chris,

I will be interested to see how you like the 408. I am considering building one myself. I assume you are referring to the TEC3? Looks awesome. I too like the idea of tuning with a lap-top. You can start with downloaded set-ups from similar motors and find the optimum one with a few dyno pulls. Then tweak the best one with a few variations for the next dyno run.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the system.....
