I haven't driven the 408W powered CR much lately and about a month ago I was "blowing it out" and got a pretty hefty miss above 5000 RPM's!!!
It really wasn't too bothersome since this thing has scads of torque and I can scare myself to death below 5000 RPM's!!!
Not one to let this go on....I got new plugs, dist. cap with a new rotor and a new coil. New plugs seemed to fix it so I drove around last week awhile but encountered a slight sputter again at about 5000 RPM's!!!
Saturday I swapped the rest out and found to my surprise the plug on top of the coil had
oil in it and the dist cap end of the coil wire was very corroded!!!
After replacing everything I went for a drive and.......WOW!!!!
Seems like a different engine and the power is scarey!!
It pulls (spins) like a BULL through second gear to 6500 RPM's and possibly more....but I didn't push it!!
It pays to check all ignition stuff regularly unless your a "Sunday Driver" like me??
41/2 YEARS and I still LOVE THIS CAR!!!
