I have/HAD the original FMS 392. The pistons were "cast" at the time and I blew one!!

Went back with a FMS short block and moved to forged pistons and crank. Also did the mods to move up to 427 cu in. Am also using a rev limiter set at 6000 or 6100. I sleep better now. I believe the new FMS engines actually have a warranty. They couldn't have cared less back then!

I took delivery of my car in December of 2000--#930.

Good luck!!

Default 392 cast/forged question

Does anyone know when FMS changed some of the internals on the 392 from cast to forged ?

You might try the FMS tech line: 586-468-1356.

Good luck!
