Default 289 rear main seal?

I've got the 289 out of my car right now to replace the pan and I noticed that the rear main is seeping. I figure that while it's out, I'd be pretty stupid to not replace the seal. But, alas, I'm a long-term Chevy guy and this is my first Ford.

It's a two-piece seal. Will I be able to pop the rear main cap off and roll in the top half of a new seal, or am I in for a full-main-cap release & lift?

I'm "assuming" that it's a rubber seal both top & bottom, right? No old rope in these things?

Thanks, Tom

Tom;

I changed the rear seal on my 351-W,two piece like on a 289,took off all the main caps and lifted the crank and rods up a little to get to the bottom half,I could not put in the bottom half without doing it this way,was not that bad of a job either...........
