Question 351w hood clearance

Hey Everyone,
I'm just in the planning stages for my B&B. I'm going to be using a 351w. Are there any hood clearance issues when running any specific brands of intakes or carbs? Thanks...

Mike

Mike, my SPF with Edelbrock RPM AirGap and Demon Carb would have punched a hole in the hood without the scoop. Your B&B results may vary.

I have an Offenhauser intake, Holley carb and 3 inch airfilter with a drop base. I have about 2 inches of clearance. Jim

Tony, so far (300 miles) I love it. My engine is a 418W from Performance Engineering. I chose the components to deal with the 5500 foot altitude here at home. When I went to the emissions technical center, the tech commented on how "hot" the cam sounded and questioned whether it would pass the tail pipe test at the emissions test site. It passed with flying colors. I'm thinking the combination of a torquey cam for low end, intake designed for a bit higher rpm range than the Performer all paid off. The cam is a roller; hence the "race cam" sounds.

On the other hand, the air gap design (individual runners standing up with a gap from the intake floor) provides a nice place for the crappy winter gas we have to boil out of the carb and collect in a spot where I can clean it!
